Good afternoon fellow crafters, I hope this finds you well. Another week has whizzed by and I realised I had not done a blog post for over a week! My parents are descending on Friday, for just ONE NIGHT ONLY and a couple of days, but oh my, all the work to be done! Not helped by our ever messy Newfoundland dog Daisy – she can’t help it bless her, but she is not the tidiest of dogs!!!! I clean, then I do it all again the next day…..*sigh*
I am currently playing along with Anna Kossakovskaya’s CASometry Challenge. The idea of the challenge is to find 5 ways to use one stamp set that you have not used much, and to keep it CAS. There are five stages to the challenge, each one lasts a few weeks so plenty of time to get your thinking caps on. This is the card I submitted for part 1, but we are now into the second stage of the challenge. I have chosen to use Clearly Besotted’s Some Birdie Loves You. I had only used this set once or twice previously and I decided it needed some love.
Here is my card for today.
First up I stamped the birds and the birdcage on some Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloured them with Copics. I then fussy cut them and put them to one side. Next I die cut a stitched rectangle panel and stamped the branch one and a half times in from the left side, adding a few extra leaves because I just felt like it! I had to do this twice as the first time I did not have the branches stamped low enough and the whole design was too cramped :-/
I then adhered the two birds and birdcage to the stitched panel using foam pads. The birdcage has thinner foam squares behind it, so it sits back slightly behind the birds. I then stamped the sentiment and a few little musical notes. I wanted the card to look like they are singing little love songs to each other 🙂
Lastly, as I couldn’t help myself, I added some Glossy Accents to their beaks and some shimmer to their tummies and part of their tails but unfortunately you cannot see this in the photos. I then adhered the stitched panel to a base card using double sided tape.
A really simple card for today. I have to say, I do find CAS quite hard to achieve, I am always wanting to add little extra touches but I am pleased with how this turned out.
Thank you for stopping by, I look forward to hearing from you and I hope you all enjoy the weekend when it arrives. Back next week!
Supplies used: Neenah Solar White cardstock; Clearly Besotted Some Birdie Loves You stamp set; My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Stax; Copic Markers; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; Ranger Glossy Accents; Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter Brush Pen.

Hi Carol, thank you so much, both for visiting and for your lovely words! I remember you too from the Online Card Class – wasn’t it great? I also follow you on Instagram, so I am delighted you have popped over to my blog. This is a fun challenge from Anna, the first time I have participated, and it really does make you think about your stamp sets. The first two cards I have created look a little similar, so I am trying to challenge myself to mix it up a little bit in the next one – watch this space!

Aaah, yes, smitten parrots (or are they parakeets)…right up my alley. Popped over from Darnell’s blog and, oh so, glad I did. You have some mad coloring skills. Those (we’ll just call them birds, OK?) fairly fly off the card at us. Charming!

Ha ha! I am not sure but parakeets is a good bet! The birds also have a fair coating of shimmer on their bodies but my poor photography skills did not capture that ! And I am thrilled you have popped over from Darnell’s blog, she is so kind to introduce me and I love to see her cards. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

You make the most amazing crisp and clean and colorful cards, Lisa!! This one is a real charmer! I’ve missed the first stage of Anna’s challenge, but hope to step in when she starts part one of her next one. It’s such a fun idea! Enjoy your day!! Hugs, Darnell

Thank you so much Darnell, this is a fun challenge and I think Anna runs it twice a year. It’s the first time I have participated myself! And also a huge thank you for introducing me in your friends corner, I was so thrilled and have had some visitors which makes the whole blogging thing all so much more worthwhile. Hope you have had a great weekend, Lisa

This is such a sweet card. I have this set and I’m ashamed to say I’ve only ever inked it up once – shocking! I really need to try this challenge out, if only to get me to use half the stamp sets I tell myself I need. This is really cute – I love the scene and your colouring is lovely. Clever idea to have the bird cage slightly set back to give the birds depth. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this set! xx
