Good afternoon everyone!
I am back after what seems like ages, but is actually only a few weeks. I hope you are all well? I have been busy over the past few weeks, creating every day, but not much time to post on here. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see that I have been taking part in Kathy Racoosin’s 30 day colouring challenge which has been a lot of fun.
However, I have a card for you today, using an interesting technique that I learnt in the latest Online Card Classes class called “Heat Wave”, which I took earlier this week.
Here is my card:
To create the floral design, I white heat embossed some flowers and stems/leaves from my Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus set and watercoloured them using a wet-on-wet technique with my Gansai Tambi watercolour paints. The wet-on-wet technique gives a looser feel to the watercolour, it isn’t so controlled as you are applying wet paint onto a wet panel.. I did three layers of watercolour, drying them off in between using a heat tool. The white heat embossed lines really help contain the watercolour, so it is a pretty easy technique to play with.
Then came the interesting part….. I used water splatters to adhere gold embossing powder. Yes, really! You can actually just splatter water using a paintbrush onto your project, put some embossing powder over as normal and heat dry it. It doesn’t need an adhesive to stick. I never knew that, so one very good little tip picked up from the class! Remember to make sure that your panel is completely dry before you do this, and as always, use an anti static powder bag before applying the splatters and embossing powder to make sure you don’t get any powder where you don’t want it!
I then picked a sentiment from my new Mama Elephant Organic Blooms set, embossed it with the same gold powder as the splatters and adhered it to the panel using foam tape. I adhered the watercolour panel to my card base, adding a small strip of gold and pink to accent the card.
That completes the card for today, but hopefully you will get a sense of the really pretty gold shimmer in the photos.
I would love to know what you think of the effect, it is definitely quite splattery but in the right light it is super pretty! Thank you for stopping by and I will see you all soon.
Supplies used: Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus stamp set, Mama Elephant Organic Blooms stamp set, Hero Arts White Embossing Powder, Hero Arts Gold Embossing powder, Gansai Tambi Watercolour paints. White, gold and pink cardstock from my stash.

I was wondering if you were doing the class, I know you like to if you can. I have found it quite hard to make anything decent… not because of the techniques shown, but I just didn’t seem to have the right supplies. I don’t own a lot of solid stamps, and I would have loved to have tried Jennifer’s technique with adding embossing to stamped images… I am sure I can find something in my stash somewhere that will work, but having the time to think is hard when the colouring challenge is going on as well as everything else in life!!!! Also really liked Laura and Kristina’s techniques. Sorry to hear you have had so many appointments, sounds like sleep might be the best thing for you right now. But I am so happy to hear you have been doing the colouring challenge :), hugs Lisa xx
