Hello friends!
I hope you are all well. I don’t know about you, but I suspect you are like me and always struggle to make masculine cards. If you are a follower of my blog, you will see that I find them hard, I always end up adding something that sends them slightly over into girly territory!
But today, maybe I have done a little better. I have a couple of cards to show you.
Same card, just different colours. And I think they will work for any occasion, a birthday or Father’s Day, or just to say hello. And pretty simple to make too. I shall be making more.
I wanted to keep the design clean and simple, and I thought that heat embossing onto kraft card would be good for a masculine card. But I wanted to colour with Copics, and I have been warned about the potential of ruining the nibs on the embossed image as it is slightly rough and raised. So of course, there is a way around this!
I started by stamping the largest image in white pigment ink. The process is the same for both cards and I used the MISTI to speed it up. After stamping each of the larger images, I coloured them each with 3 complimentary Copics. As I hadn’t removed the stamp from the MISTI, I was then able to go back and restamp directly over my coloured image using Versamark ink. I then heat embossed with white embossing powder.
I repeated the process for the smaller image, stamping first with pigment ink, colouring with Copics and then restamping using Versamark ink and heat embossing. Very simple, and the white embossing really lifts the colour and looks great against the neutral card. I also stamped the quote with Versamark and heat embossed that on both cards.
To finish off the card I wrapped some twine around the bottom of the panel, securing it with tape at the back. And it was then I discovered that I did not have ANY white enamel dots to finish the card, so I had to draw on some dots with a white pigment pen. Suffice to say I am going shopping after I finish this blog post! There was a temptation to add a few dull flat white sequins, but I proudly resisted 🙂
I adhered some craft foam behind each panel and popped it onto a side folding card base.
That finishes the cards for today. I think this may actually be the first time I really feel like I made a card that wasn’t too fussy for a man. I hope you agree!
Thank you for stopping by, as always I love to hear any feedback from you, so please feel free to leave me a comment. Enjoy the rest of your week and I will be back soon with another project.

I know what I have to do in future, just send all my stamps to you for you to use them and then inspire me to do something else with them when they return. These are fabulous – I love the clean and simple look and I also thank you for the idea of stamping over the top once you have coloured in with Copics so you don’t ruin the nibs. I love seeing Copic colouring on Kraft and I’m off to investigate that Kraft card stock. xx

This is just perfect and gorgeous Lisa ! I know you don’t like doing masculine cards and you know I don’t like either, but you did here a wonderful job and I assure you that they are perfect for men ! Beautiful choice of colours which match wonderfully with the kraft paper ! And what I prefer above all on your cards is the natural twine at the bottom, it finishes so beautifully these amazing cards ! Fabulous work Lisa ! And be good with your purse, don’t buy to much ! I never come back from the craft store with ONLY what I really needed ! Thanks for sharing and for inspiring.
Have a nice day.
Hugs xx

Thank you Izzy! I have received a couple of cards recently using the twine, and I thought it would fit well with this type of card. I agree it finished it off, as it sort of “grounded” the images to the card. And by the way, I ordered the enamel accents online so I was not tempted to buy anything else! Thank you so much for your sweet comments xx
