Just popping in with a quick post today. I am currently taking a stencilling techniques class over at the Altenew Academy, so today’s card is all about stencils and using paste.
Here is my card for today.
This is actually pretty quick to make, you just need to be patient while waiting for the paste to dry! I started by cutting an A2 panel of Neenah Solar White cardstock and attaching my stencil to it (by using tape at the back so that my pasting on the front would not be interrupted by tape). I took the darkest shade of purple and laid some colour down on to my craft mat, added the texture paste and mixed it in. I kept adding ink and mixing until I was happy.
Using a palette knife to lay the colour down, I added three different shades going from dark to light, left to right. I cleaned the palette knife off in between colours. Then I set it aside to dry
Whilst waiting for it to dry, I stamped the tulips using Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured them with Copic markers. I then had to cut them out – grrrrr. For regular readers, you will know I hate to fussy cut, but fortunately these are really easy images so it didn’t take too long.
As I am slow to colour, and even slower to fussy cut lol, the pasted panel was dry by the time I had finished! I used some Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive to adhere the first tulip, and I popped the second tulip up with some double sided foam tape so there is some dimension.
Finally I added the sentiment and sequins to finish the card. As I stamped part of the sentiment directly onto the textured panel I did it a few times (using the MISTI) and even went over it with a black marker, just to make sure you couldn’t see any white bits where the paste doesn’t allow it to sit smoothly.
So that finishes the card for today. I always enjoy stencils and really like using them with paste. It’s a little messy and fiddly but usually worth the time and effort.
Thank you for stopping by, I wish you all a very happy weekend wherever you are. I will be back soon with another project.
