I am back after rather a long break. It’s been almost 5 weeks since I made an actual card – I have had an amazing holiday in Italy but prior to that a very bad back which meant I was unable to craft. All is well again now, but sadly I left my mojo in Lake Como 🙂 where it is still having a wonderful time looking at the breakthtaking views. I am however looking at a blank crafting desk!
So, one of many things I do when I frequently lose my mojo is to look back at courses I have taken. There are other things I do, but more of that in a later post :). A few years ago I took a stencilling class at Online Card Classes. So I picked a card project that I hadn’t got around to trying and had a go at that.
So, here is my card.
My nephew has his 15th birthday coming up, and needless to say, I struggled to think of a masculine themed card! This is not new if you are a regular follower of mine. And I kept it really simple. No surprise there either when it comes to masculine cards.
To start, I took an A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) Neenah Solar White card base and pounced my powder bag over it, masked off the top edge and laid a stencil down over the top using washi tape to secure it. I inked up the stencil using Versamark ink and then applied clear embossing powder and heat set it.
I took three Distress Inks and applied them over the top and then spritzed the card lightly with water and removed the excess water and ink with a paper towel.
Lastly, I stamped a sentiment onto white card and mounted it onto vellum and onto the panel using double sided foam tape. The vellum is not very manly but he probably won’t even notice it as he will be busy looking for the contents 🙂
As I will be giving him money (just what he always wants), the sentiment was perfect!
That finishes my card for today. It took me about 20 minutes to make (3 days to think about lol), so really quick and to be honest, teenage boys are not likely to spend hours drooling over a handmade card, so it is about the right amount of time!
I will be back next week with another project. I hope you are all well and enjoying life wherever you are and I hope you manage to get some crafty time to yourself this weekend.
