Hello friends!
I am back with my second post as Guest Designer for The Flower Challenge this month. The theme for this month’s challenge is to use your favourite flower. So for both cards, I am using Clearly Besotted “To You With Love”. To see my first post, click here. I have used this stamp so many times, but for both my Guest Design posts, I have used it with a different design or with a different medium.
I decided to go for a winter theme for my card today.
I began by stamping (and masking) the image around the top corner of the card and heat embossing with gold embossing powder.
I started to colour the leaves using my lightest green Zig marker – this helps me to see the image start to take shape. I then took the red marker and proceeded to colour the blooms. I work in layers, leaving them to dry in between. The same with the leaves – it really is just a case of working your way around the images, almost systematically although that is not my strong point! For the flowers I only used one colour marker but on the final layer, I pretty much just added the pigment without using much water at all. I now own all “red” Zigs and none of them are red, they are all pink tones!!!
Once the colouring was finished, I wanted to add a bit of a dramatic/wintry look so I took the grey Zig marker and added pigment around the edges of the leaves and flowers, darker in some places. Once dry, I added a little more grey here and there.
I then heat embossed the sentiment using gold embossing powder. The “to you” I added using second generation stamping as I didn’t want a stark black ink and I don’t have a dark grey.
Finally I added some dewdrops from Pretty Pink Posh.
We are looking forward to seeing all your entries for this month. Don’t forget there are prizes up for grabs too!
Thank you very much to Aileen and all the Design Team members for making me so welcome. Please do hop over to see their cards – the provide so much inspiration every month.
I will be back soon with another project. As always I hope you have a great week.

Your coloring is magnificent in my opinion. I love the dew drops you added. Roses are my favorite BUT this month it’s sunflowers!

Your second card as GD is another stunner ! As they are different support, different technique and different design, it’s hard to say that it is the same stamp set you used for both card ! But the result is as striking as the first one ! I really love the shades you succeeded to give with your Zig pen brushes and this gold embossing is just a delight ! They are definitely on my Xmas wish list (even if there is no real red !). I really love your wintry look, it gives so much depth to your floral arrangement ! Very eye-catching card and so elegant ! Thanks so much for inspiring us ! Hugs xx
PS: Hope your wrist is better now. Take care !
