Hello friends!
I hope you are all well. As seems to be customary for me in December, a non Christmas card today! I know I have a little halo shining above my head as my Christmas cards are done, but I do start very early so I don’t have a mad panic at the end. And I hope this post gives you a little break from all the red and gold, blue and silver and any other colour you want to throw in the mix.
But, I do have gold in this card 🙂
I have seen a lot of cards recently using navy as a background so wanted to have a go at colouring on navy myself. I heat embossed the “Make A Wish” stampset from Clearly Besotted in gold onto some navy cardstock and got stuck in!
I used Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, on the leaves I didn’t lay any white down first, I just coloured directly onto the card with three different greens. But for the petals, I used a white Caran d’Ache Luminance pencil under the purple colours. So it was kind of like a light base to start the colouring from. And I tried to leave some highlights – in fact I added some additional white after the purple was finished to try and achieve this.
As always, I worked in layers and it did take a little time. But pencil colouring rewards you in a different way to other mediums I think.
The finished colouring was die cut with a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp, mounted onto some gold cardstock and then onto another layer of navy and then finally a white A2 base card.
The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Organic Blooms and was heat embossed in gold onto a strip of the same navy. A few gold sequins finished it off.
Thanks for coming by, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and it’s not too crazy for you.
I will be back soon with another card. Happy crafting!

Oh my giddy aunt, this is AMAZEBALLS (as the young ‘uns would say). It’s stunning with the gold embossing and it gives it a beautiful look on the navy – not as harsh as black would be. Your pencil colouring is just delicious and I really would like an entire set of the Caran D’Ache, but since no one would buy my kidney, that seems unlikely…. but back to you card, it really is beautiful. You should be extra super proud of this one Lisa xxxxxx
