Hello friends!
I am back with another birthday card for you today. Today is my friend Steph’s birthday. She loves Clearly Besotted stamps and actually has this stamp set, but hopefully she has not coloured her image in quite the same way as I have or she will find this card a bit dull lol.
I started by silver heat embossing the stamp to the side of some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour cardstock. I haven’t used my Zigs much on this cardstock before so I wanted to see how they behaved. They definitely don’t blend as easily as they would on a smoother cardstock but you can still get quite a nice look with them, you just need to work a little harder and use a bit more water.
Hopefully you can see the silver embossed outline better below.
I used some purple/blue tones for the leaves as I thought that it would like good with the silver outline (and Steph likes blue). I then took about 3 different shades of green for the petals. As well as colouring within the image, I added some of the same colours to the outside just to give it a looser watercolour look. No rhyme or reason to my colouring, just laid the pigment down, added water and hoped it looked nice at the end!
I used a stitched rectangle die to cut the panel and I adhered it to a dark grey base card. I then white heat embossed my sentiment onto the same grey cardstock and popped it up with foam tape.
Lastly I added some clear sequins to finish the card off. A big happy birthday to Steph, I hope she has a fabulous day.
Thank you as always for visiting my blog, I hope you have a great week.

Actually you are right I have not watercoloured that image (i shall do that in 2018).
You mentionned that the colours don’t blend as well with this cardstock but i think it looks nice with final result – maybe a different result from what you normally you but that makes it interesting.
Thanks for this very pretty card !! xxxx

It’s really beautiful! I love the very loose watercolour you have gone with. It really makes it look very flowing and arty. Great choice with the silver EP too – gives it some bling but isn’t too harsh either. I think that was my problem with the Zigs. I used it on ordinary watercolour and TIm Holtz paper and they really don’t flow that well on it, so I gave up – but I love seeing how you have been using them, so I don’t ever regret it!! I know Steph will love it – even if we made her a card with the same set – hahhahah! xx
