Hello friends
I am back today with another kind of nautical project. And what better way to kick start a Wednesday by spreadin’ a little love and sending a card. Or at least making one and shoving it in a box ๐
A couple of my crafty friends and I are doing a little challenge between ourselves this year. We are going to try and make one card a week using products we have not used before or products that have been very lightly used. We will be posting our cards on Instagram with the hashtags #workyourstashwednesday and #wysw. And I will be sharing some of my creations here on my blog. Our theme for this week is “use an unused stamp”
So to start the New Year, given that I feel like one of these after the Christmas festivities, here is my card!
It might be more appropriate if it was beached whale rather than an adorable little orca bobbing around kissing its partner, but you get the gist! The unused product is my Mama Elephant Brush Strokes stamp set.ย I started by masking an area on my stitched panel and used a variety of blue inks to create an ombre “sea”.
I then took a sentiment (also unused) and stamped it onto the bottom of the panel – it’s all super easy to do. The orcas from Mama Elephant are just stamped in black and popped onto the card using foam tape. The spray is stamped using one of the blue inks I used for the sea.
Lastly I found a red heart in my stash and popped that on.ย About half a litre of glossy accents was added to the orcas and slightly less to the heart and I did my best not to poke it while it was wet! You can see the gloss really well in the picture above and I always use lots on these whales as I think it really brings them to life.
Lastly, I mounted the whole stitched panel onto an A2 base card. And voila! Card done :). I say that like it was easy, the whole card took me 3 attempts as I kept messing up the stamping haha! Some things never change….
I will be back soon with another project – have a fabulous week one and all.

I LOVE this idea! You know me, have lots of very lightly used stamps, so it’s perfect, especially now Darnell has stopped the NBUS challenge. Perfect for you and budgetgate as well ๐ I shall endevour to join in and support. It’s Wednesday today, so I should get my act together once I’ve done all the holiday washing. Anyway, your card is super cute. I LOVE those little whales and they look so happy bobbing up and down on their sea of brush strokes. Everything needs glossy accents, and loads of it. The question is, if I start using up my lightly used stamps, does that mean I can buy more ๐ xxxx
