Hello again friends!
Another week goes flying by – it will be Christmas before we know it 🙂
If you are a regular reader you will know some friends and I started a weekly challenge last week to use our unused products. This week we are using our unused dies.
I am struggling, as always, to find any mojo post Christmas. In times like this, I reach for pre-coloured images. My unused MFT “Friend” die was my starting point for the card, so I went through my stash and found these cute images that I coloured ages ago during a 30-day colouring challenge. Can you believe I am still using images from these challenges!
So I picked a few that I thought would create a little scene for my card. And then I thought about the background – I wanted something neutral so they would be the focal point, but needed to add a bit of interest. Recently I have been watching Yana Smakula use score lines on her cards to create interest, so that’s where I got my idea for the scored lines on this card.
They are also really handy for lining things up!
I cut my Simon Says Stamp Fog cardstock panel to 4″ x 5.25″ first and then worked out how far apart my score lines needed to be – they are actually 1″ apart with a tiny bit at the top and bottom. Next I worked out where to heat emboss the “thank you” and went ahead and did that before adding the images (easier to do in the MISTI before adding popped up images).
Next I added my images onto the panel using double sided foam tape, making sure to leave enough room for the “friend”. I then die cut the “friend” three times from Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock.
As the letters are all individual and need to be correctly spaced on the card, I used the negative die cut to help me. To do this you temporarily stick it to your panel, pop your letters in and adhere them down, and then remove it. I then added the additional two layers, so the word has some lovely dimension.
I added a little bit of Wink of Stella to the butterfly and bird. And that finished the card.
I hope that you like the card, and if you want to join in with our challenge – please do so. We would love to see what you are creating with your unused products. We are only running it on Instagram and if you want to play along, make sure to use the hashtags #workyourstashwednesday and #wysw and that way we can see your work. Remember the theme for this week is to use an unused die.
I will be back soon with another project, and I wish you all a wonderful week. Happy crafting!

This is such a great challenge. It’s really making me think about all the stuff I have that I haven’t used ever and also making me revisit things I’ve only used once or twice. One day I will get through everything before I buy anything else….. maybe…. The card is just lovely and I love that you are using up your pre coloured images. The colouring challenge is designed for that really I think. I LOVE the interest that scoring the background panel gives to the card – you’re right it helps to line things up but it also helps to ground the image and not just have it floating in mid air. The bird on top of the deer’s head is my favourite! Keep them coming! I shall have mine up tomorrow! xxx
