Hello crafters
Firstly, I must apologise for a Christmas card in January. This was not my intention AT ALL – not even I am that organised. But, there is a very exciting challenge going on at Darnell’s blog, where we have to use our NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff), and I had a poinsettia laying around, that was crying out to be used. Let’s face it, having bought 3 poinsettia stamp sets in 2 weeks not long before Christmas, this was bound to happen! So a Christmas card it is.
Here is my card for today.
Darnell is challenging us to use a NBUS technique as well in this latest challenge. Although I have actually used this technique before, I hadn’t done so for a while, so I wanted to have another go and rather than do a little image, I decided to wear myself out with a rather large panel lol (a slight exaggeration, but I have a cold, and am slowly grinding to a bit of a halt).
I started off by white heat embossing the leaves and flowers on some Kraft cardstock measuring 5” x 5”. I then set about colouring it in – not gonna lie, this took quite some time, pencils are not quick! You have to work in layers to build up the colour and to create a smooth finish
Once I had finished the colouring, I added some white dots in the spaces using my white gelly rol pen. I stamped a sentiment onto white card and mounted it onto the completed panel with foam adhesive.
I then added craft foam to the back of the panel and mounted it onto a white card base (5.5” x 5.5”)
And that completes my card for today.
I would love to know what you think. Do you ever use this technique? If not, give it a try and enter it into Darnell’s challenge. I am also going to enter this into the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge “What’s New”.
Thank you for stopping by, I will be back soon with another project.

It’s a beauty and I really don’t think you need to worry about your coloured pencil colouring. It’s really very well done. I struggle so much with these pencils but I really love them too! I’m impressed you’ve got out of the blocks with Christmas Cards 🙂 xx

Beautiful colored pencil coloring of your poinsettias and leaves, Lisa. I love how you added your snow with your gelli pen. That was a lot of pencil coloring…my hand is cramping thinking about it….but, what beautiful results. Did you use a blender pen or pencil to blend the colors? I used Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) to blend my Prismacolor pencils on the 2 cards I made for Darnell’s awesome challenge. She sure does inspire all of us 🙂 TFS….Hugs.

This is absolutely gorgeous Lisa ! Hope you recovered but this cold was beneficial for the execution of this card ! I also bought poinsettia stamp and I love it ! No matter that this is no longer the Christmas period, we will be at least in advance for the cards of the end of 2017!

So pretty. Great job coloring those poinsettias. The white dots are a great accent. I love making Christmas cards all year long and enjoy playing in several of the challenges.
