Hello again friends!
I am back today with a card that I am entering into Darnell’s NBUS (Never Before used Schtuff) super fun challenge. This week, Darnell has challenged us to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a card you love and to use a hidden sentiment, and of course make sure that at least one element on your card is NBUS.
So, here is my card for today.
My card is a CASE of one that Nichol Magouirk created a while back – totally gorgeous! I have changed the colours slightly as I didn’t have the same Distress Inks that Nichol used. My card does not feel quite as soft and romantic, but a little bit more vibrant.
I started off by stamping and heat embossing the image using white embossing powder. I then took three distress inks (Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Aged Mahogany) to colour my blooms. They don’t have the vintage feel that Nichol created but I do really like the colour that emerged! I then took two greens (Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint) to colour the leaves. Tattered Rose was actually a NBUS ink for me and possibly Crushed Olive too, so really happy I got to play with those.
Once dry, I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle, and also die cut the word friend from the coloured panel. At the same time I cut a further two “friend” die cuts from white cardstock. I adhered the watercoloured panel to a white card base ensuring that I had some double sided adhesive behind the “friend” sentiment area. This is is so that I can stick all the pieces back in easily :).
So, I adhered the two white “friend” die cuts back into place (it’s like doing a jigsaw) and then adhered the final top coloured die cut onto the white inlaid stack. So even though the sentiment is hidden, because it is propped up, you can see it – love this effect.
Lastly, I stamped my NBUS Love You Lots sentiment onto some white card, popped it up onto the panel with double sided foam and then added a few sequins.
That completes my card for today. I have now made a number of cards with this beautiful stamp set and I don’t think I will ever tire of it. Thank you so much for stopping by. I would love it if you would let me know whether you have tried the hidden sentiment technique before. Have a good week!
