Hello again friends
Today marks the final countdown day for the Clearly Besotted March Release. Not long now until you can buy! In today’s card I wanted to use a stamp from the release and use it as an outline stamp – not all images need to be coloured, there are many ways to add colour to your project. For today, I just simply added a little bit of watercolour.
I die cut the rounded rectangular panel from watercolour cardstock and stamped the Spring Daffodils image using waterproof ink. I did only stamp it once but used the MISTI in case I needed to double stamp. I took a 3/4″ flat brush and liberally applied clean water in a loose square around the image and then dropped two colours of distress ink into the water to create a kind of blended wash. I used the darker ink at the bottom and then blended the green/yellow on top of that and faded it out towards the top of the image. I did do a few layers, allowing it to dry in between. I love the non precise edges to the block of colour!
Once dry I popped the panel back into the MISTI and stamped the sentiment to the side.
I wanted the image to be like a little framed watercolour print, so I die cut four frames from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock using the WPlus9 die that I had also used for the rounded rectangular frame – this allows the watercolour frame to sit snugly within the scalloped frame. I adhered the four frames together, added them to an A2 card base and then stuck the waterpanel cardstock down in the centre using double sided adhesive tape.
Lastly, I outlined the daffodil image with a Copic multiliner just to make it pop a little.
I plan on making 3 or 4 similar watercolour panels to this using different background colours and framing them ready for when I move house, hopefully this year! I think it’s really great to find ways to use your stamps in other ways and this way we will have little pieces of handmade art in our home.
I hope that you have enjoyed seeing some examples from the release – thank you to my existing readers and a huge welcome to all my new readers! I am thrilled you are joining me and look forward to sharing more projects with you in the future. A reminder, all stamps and coordinating dies will be available to buy from Clearly Besotted and Simon Says Stamp from 1st March 8pm GMT.
I encourage you to visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they have been sharing over the past few days. I link to their blogs for your convenience. Stephanie, Michelle, Keren and also to Rubeena who is guest designing for Clearly Besotted this month. Happy crafting everyone!
