Hello friends
Yes yes I know. A reference to Valentines Day in the subject header?! I apologise, life has been a little busy and I didn’t get around to blogging this card. I am now a tad late – but hey, what’s a few weeks!
So, here is the card that has slipped through the net! I hope this cute koala is worth waiting for.
And I have to make a few more apologies here, I created the background using Alcohol Inks and I confess it was some months ago, before I was diligently writing down what I was using. From memory it was Purple Twilight with a little bit of Raspberry thrown in for good measure, but I wouldn’t stake my life on it! The important thing here is to play with your supplies, which is what I was doing at the time, and occasionally playtime ends up with something that you love and want to use!
To make the background I used some Yupo paper, applied a liberal coating of Alcohol blending solution over it, added some drops of ink here and there and then used my heat tool to move it around. It creates this kind of cracked effect 😍. And you can keep adding the blending solution and inks until you get a look you like. It’s a fascinating product!
The cute koala was coloured recently during the 30 Day Colouring Challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin. And I had put him away in my bag of images ready to be used and he seemed like just the perfect fit for this card.
The card was really simple to put together. First I adhered the alcohol inked panel behind the die cut top panel with double sided tape and next I adhered the die cut panel onto my base card also using double sided adhesive tape. I put some double sided foam tape behind the koala and popped him up in front.
So it was quick to make, as all the work had been done beforehand! I wondered about sequins, but decided against it in the end as it has enough going on already I think with that busy background. But I did add a touch of black glaze pen to his eyes and to his nose, so they shine a little bit.
Thanks for popping by as always, I wish you a very happy Thursday.
Copic colours used: Koala W0, W1, W3, W5. Banner V000, V01, V04

He is so adorable and don’t you just love having coloured images all ready to go? I so love seeing all your alcohol ink panels, and yes playing around is exactly what you should be doing. I just love the end result of these panels. I will have to confess it took me some time to work out why he was Koalified….. not the sharpest tool in the box – lol! xx

I love these alcohol backgrounds they definitely have something magical ab them!
I like the simplicity of the card but you added loads of details (frames and stitched lines) to keep it interesting!
