Hello friends
Today, I wanted to share a card with you that I made using the faux stained glass technique that Jennifer McGuire shared recently. This card has been a labour of love and I have been working on it for a few days.
Since receiving this gorgeous Flower Cluster die from Simon Says Stamp a few months ago, I have been waiting for the right opportunity to use it again. And I thought this technique would go well with it.
To create the stained glass effect, you stick your first layer of die cut down onto your panel and colour it in. You don’t need to be particular about the colouring going onto the die cut itself as you will be covering it up. I used Copics to colour mine (numbers listed below).
Next you adhere another 3 layers of the die cut on top and then fill the areas with a glossy fluid. I used a spray adhesive to adhere my die cuts together and Nuvo Glaze to fill in the areas but Glossy Accents would work just as well. And I did do a couple of layers – the Nuvo Glaze dries flatter than Glossy Accents but you can still layer it up in the same way.
Once everything had completely dried, I added a final die cut on top of each of my stacks so they looked neat and tidy :). So there are a total of 5 layers and the dimension is incredible. I used Neenah 110lb for the die cuts so they are really stacked well and feel very robust.
I trimmed the white panel down and mounted it onto some light blue cardstock and then adhered it to the base card with DST. Following that, I white heat embossed my sentiments onto the same blue cardstock and popped them on with foam tape.
I then added quite a lot of sequins, many more than usual. I toyed with adding Nuvo Drops but as the card had taken me a long time to create I didn’t want to mess up the card if I messed up the drops. There was no way I was going to start again! I also felt that the clear sparkly sequins would go well with the gloss from the stained glass die cuts.
So that finishes my card for today. I apologise for 2 posts in one day, but I was keen to get this into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge. It’s their 100th challenge and there are some amazing prizes up for grabs, so what are you waiting for?
I will be back tomorrow but in the meantime, happy crafting!

Simply gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this technique. I will have to give it a try. I have also been eyeing this die at SSS as I have seen several beautiful cards with it. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is absolutely amazing Lisa. A real labour of love, so make sure you send it to the right person who will really treasure the amount of time and care taken. Just beautiful and it looks lovely on the blue cardstock with the gorgeous colours in the flowers. My hat is off to you. Blown away at the result. Sequins add even more gorgeousness so yes, right to stay away from Nuvo Drops! xx
