Hello friends
Today marks the start of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted October release – and this month it is all about Christmas! Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, and I especially like making Christmas cards. So today I am kicking off with a card using three new sets – Sweet Angel, Winter Plushies and Scrumptious Holidays.
There are just some cards that you really enjoy making. Well this was one of them for me – I think it has to do with the bright colours, snowy scene, cute images and also probably the fact that I made it in one go without changing anything! Rare.
I began by stamping two of the angels from Sweet Angel and the trees from Winter Plushies onto Copic friendly cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The images were coloured with Copics (numbers listed below) and fussy cut but there are coordinating dies available.
To create the background I took a piece of 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock and blended Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink at the top. I then blended Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxides down towards the bottom (love this colour combination and am trying not to use it on every card!) I used the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to add some water onto the panel and dabbed it off with a paper towel. I also splattered some white gouache onto the panel just for added interest as it provides more of a stark white splatter. This was left to dry and then trimmed down.
Next I ran some white cardstock through the Big Shot with a MFT stitched snow drifts die and trimmed it to size. I stamped a sentiment from Scrumptious Holidays and set it to one side.
The background panel was adhered to an A2 base card with DST and the stitched snow bank and two angels with foam tape so there is some dimension to the card. The trees were added with wet adhesive or foam tape depending on their positioning.
Final touches of shimmer were added to the trees and the fairies and I added a little black gel pen to their eyes to make them pop.
That finishes the first countdown teaser. Please do hop over to see what my teamies Stephanie, Keren and Michelle have created – I always love to see what they have made with the new sets.
I will be back tomorrow with the next countdown teaser for you. In the meantime, happy crafting.

I LOVE those angels! They look so serene and happy in their snowy background. By the way, I’m calling that night sky blend your signature Christmas sky. It really works so well with the pink towards the bottom. Makes me think of ‘Red sky at night, Shepherd’s delight’, and I don’t think they would tremble at seeing these! Great start to the teasers. xx
