Hello again friends
I am back with another card featuring the super cute Sweet Holiday Penguins which was recently released by My Favorite Things. I couldn’t resist making several cards with this lovely set!!
And I used the Snow Drifts die again to create my little scene as I did with this card from a few days ago. But I changed it up a little.
To begin, I did all my die cutting. I had a piece of cardstock that I had ink blended a few months ago when I was playing with my new Distress Oxides. I thought the colours were really pretty and would suit a winter sky scene (the blue/green is ever so slightly Southern Lights if you squint your eyes almost shut! :)). I’m saying Southern as we had a huge debate in our house recently over whether penguins could be found in the Arctic. I thought they could and my other half said he was sure that they are only Southern hemisphere. Annoyingly, after a lot of googling, he appears to be right!
So I ran this through my Big Shot with the Snow Drifts Cover Up and I also ran a panel of white cardstock through with the same die. I then added some Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the “frame” part of the die and adhered it down to a top folding base card. This now meant that I could piece in my ink blended sections into the top part of the card, also with Ranger MMM. For the bottom three snow bank sections, I added foam tape behind them and pieced those into the frame – so they have some lovely dimension – they really stand out.
Next I coloured my images with Copics (numbers listed below) and die cut them with the coordinating die-namics. I added some foam tape to these and popped them on to the base – isn’t that little penguin so cute peeking out of the gift box!
The sentiment was stamped with Extreme Black Ink onto white cardstock, trimmed and popped up on some vellum. This was then adhered with wet adhesive. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins to finish the card off. Oh yes, I also added that essential sparkle to the hat and gift with some Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer.
I wonder if I will ever finish my Christmas cards hahaha- but I love making them and I have someone in mind for this one. It’s always nice to send a handmade card, especially at Christmas. Until next time, happy crafting and thank you for popping by.
