Hello there
Today I am very excited to share the news that I am the Featured Designer for the weekly Sketch Challenge over at My Favorite Things during the month of November! It is a big thrill for me as I love MFT and it is always a joy to be asked to create anything with their fabulous range of products.
For those of you that are new to the sketch challenge, it is a weekly challenge where you can create and link up any projects you make based on the sketch provided. And there is a $50 gift voucher to MFT up for grabs every week, so it’s definitely worth thinking about entering. I will link to the challenge here, so you can see the finer details.
So, this month I hope to be providing inspiration for each of the sketches. The sketch for this week is below.
And here is my card for inspiration.
One of my favourite sets from MFT during the summer was this beautiful Fluttering Friends stamp set and I thought it would work really well with the sketch. And I kept it clean and simple, lots of white space to really highlight how pretty those images are.
I began by stamping my images onto Neenah Solar White cardstock using MFT Extreme Black Hybrid ink and coloured them with Copics (numbers listed below). They were then die cut with the coordinating die-namics.
I took a panel of Neenah cardstock and trimmed it down slightly so that I would have some of my base card showing either side. I stamped the greeting with MFT Extreme Black ink and then I grabbed two pans of paint from my Gansai Tambi watercolour set. I used the Black (20), and no. 50 (a teal colour) and added some splatters in the general area where I knew my images would sit. I left this to dry and then adhered it to my base panel with DST.
To give the card some dimension and extra interest, I popped some foam tape on the back of the images and arranged them on the the panel, and added some sparkling clear sequins for embellishment and a little bling. There is also a little extra sparkle on areas of the images, courtesy of my much used and loved Nuvo Aqua Shimmer marker.
I love the pops of green at the side with the slightly offset design and I think the splatters and sequins add just a little something extra to the overall card and fill in that white space a little.
The world is your oyster with the sketches as you can flip them around if you like if it fits your design better. I think this is a sketch that would work really well with balloons, butterflies, snowflakes, birds etc. I hope that you consider playing along and I will be back next week with another card for you.
Thank you as always for popping by.
Copics used: YG13, YG11, BG11

Yay! This is so very exciting! You’ve been getting a lot of the recognition you deserve, and I’m so glad about that. You have come a long way since we first met 🙂 Your usual classy, clean and very well laid out style. I really love the green and the little bits of splatter in between. It’s a gorgeous card. Looking forward to seeing what else you make 🙂 xx
