Hello there
A few weeks ago I shared a card that I made when I took the Online Card Classes Clean and Simple Holiday Class. I mentioned in my post that I would do a brief review of some of the other cards I had made. I had plans to make more than I have, but I have three additional cards to share with you today. If I left this post much longer it may never be written at all and I am sort of moving on from Christmas cards now 🙂
Here is the first card I made on the “stamping” day of class.
The aim of the class is of course to try and find a way of mass producing and that often means Clean and Simple cards. Stamping blocks of colour rather than colouring with markers or pencils can really speed up your cardmaking. I created a very simple card here by mass stamping my bear image with black ink onto 5 card bases, masking the bear and then stamping the ice block also with black ink. I stamped the sentiment and snowfall and heat embossed those in gold all in one go. The scarf was coloured with Copics but for the ice block I just stamped the outline image of the ice block onto some foam sheet with black ink, cut it out and then temporarily adhered it to an acrylic block, added my blue Altenew ink and stamped it for each of my 5 ice blocks. It wouldn’t have taken long to colour this block at all, but it was still quick to do it this way. You can do this with many outline stamps you have – i.e. a poinsettia – just stamp onto foam, cut it out, add your ink and stamp away!
My second card uses masking tape to create a fun contemporary tree.
This is a CASE of Kristina Werner’s card from class, so not my design. For this card, all I did was use masking tape to create a triangle on a Strathmore Bristol Smooth card panel and then colour it with four colours of Zigs (a few layers). I removed the masking tape and then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Clearly Besotted to the side and then added some white enamel dots for decoration. Again this was really quite quick to do once I had decided on the size of the tree. The panel was mounted onto a linen look card base.
For my final card, I did some heat embossing and added glitter and a sparkly embossing powder.
I die cut three snowflakes, took the largest and applied some versamark ink to the snowflake using a dauber, about a third of the way down on each of the sections. I then added some sticky embossing powder to that and heat set it (it stays sticky). I applied some Rock Candy Distress Glitter and heat set – it bonds to the sticky embossing powder underneath. I needed Sticky Embossing Powder as I was applying a glitter not an embossing powder at this stage and it acts as a bonding agent. I did a video recently on this technique if you didn’t see it – you can see it in action – it’s fascinating how it works!
I then reapplied some versamark on top of my first layer, but this time right on the tips. This time instead of adding sticky embossing powder I just added some regular glittery teal embossing powder from WOW and heat set.
The snowflakes were adhered directly to the card panel with adhesive, two of them completely flat, but the largest I just glued the centre down, so that I could pull up the sparkly edges. I then heat embossed my sentiment and popped that on.
The final card was the one I showed a few weeks back, so you can read the full post here, but here is a picture of it. It really is so beautiful in real life – the tulle shaker window with all those sparkles in is divine!
That finishes my brief review – I am sorry I don’t have more cards to share. If I get a chance to make any more I will share them here as normal posts. In the meantime, I hope you get some crafting time and thank you for sticking with me here until the end!
As always, I am listing the supplies below in case you are interested in what I used.

What a great run down of the classes and a beautiful showing of all the cards you made. I really love the way you made the first with the polar bear using foam tape as a stamp – that’s really clever. So many gorgeous cards – a class that was really worth it! xx
