Hello there
Today I am sharing a masculine birthday card. We all know they are notoriously difficult to make and I do struggle with making them but I think stencils are a great tool to have when making cards for men.
So today, I have created a bright birthday card using two stencils and I did some stencil overlapping.
I began by taking the MFT Circles stencil and blending different colour inks through the circles, some of them overlapping with each other. I mostly worked from greens to blues to purples going up the length of the card but also added a few random colours in to kind of “tie” one section of the card to the next.
I then took the MFT Abstract stencil (now retired) and laid that over the top of the circle stencil and ink blended again using the same ink colour as before. This creates a sort of two tone effect. As you add the second layer of ink onto the top through the Abstract stencil, the bottom layer becomes lighter, even though you’ve used the same colour.
I then die cut the MFT Block Happy Birthday twice from black cardstock and adhered that to the panel using the negative of the cardstock to place them (like doing a jigsaw) and wet adhesive.
Lastly I trimmed the panel down slightly and added it to a base card. I then popped a few Crystal Clear Gumdrops from Your Next Stamp on to embellish the card a little – they are plain enough to work OK on a masculine card.
And that finishes today’s card. Really simple to do once you’ve decided on what ink colours to use. Thank you for stopping by, I hope that you are having a great week! Happy crafting.

good idea!!! you could probably use some of the pattern stamps to do the second step as well, if you didn’t/don’t have a stencil that works. the card overall is GREAT!!

Ooooh the stencil looks fabulous and I love the two tone effect. Stencils make great male cards – you can be simple and colourful but not too over the top with them. Really nice job! xx

Wicked card ! Great colours used & loving the fun overlapping idea. Haven’t seen the abstract stencil before from MFT, shame it’s retired. You’re right masculine cards can be a nightmare, but I never quite know why either ! Need to get some masculine mojo going as I have 3 coming up after christmas, lucky me. Have a great festive break & thank you for a year of amazing inspiration, Merry Christmas x
