Day three of the Clearly Besotted countdown teasers features those ever so cute hippos – but this time they are donning some rather fetching tutu’s! This set is called Twinkle Toes.
This card came together relatively quickly…. at least for me! I knew I wanted the hippos to have a stencilled background and be standing on a strip, so most of the design was already in my head before I started 🙂
The sweet hippos were stamped onto Neenah with Memento and coloured with Copics. I fussy cut them but there are coordinating dies available of course if you don’t fancy that. As many of you will know, I love a stencilled background – I use them on so many cards and this time I went for a beautiful vibrant pink/purple to tie in with their little skirts.
I took Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and applied them onto my Neenah base card (I marked the approximate area beforehand), with the darker shade at the top and fading down to the light pink at the bottom. The Basic Spots stencil was then secured over the top and I applied Seedless Preserves through that – making sure that I used a softer hand as I stencilled over the Picked Raspberry.
Out came my Mama Elephant Framed Tag Columbus Circle die which hadn’t seen the light of day for quite some time and I ran that plus a LF Stitched Rectangle Die through the Big Shot. This panel was adhered onto my base with DST.
The sentiment from the set was stamped onto Fog cardstock with Versafine, trimmed to a banner shape and popped up with foam tape onto the base card. I then added some more foam tape to my hippos and adhered those so it looks like they are dancing on the strip (with no tops on them, you could almost be transported to Las Vegas in that sentence!). To finish the card I added some sparkling sequins from PPP and some shimmer to their tutu’s.
I will be back with my final teaser card tomorrow. In the meantime, it would be lovely if you could pop over to see what Stephanie, Michelle and Keren have made – I’m looking forward to seeing their cards. Have a fabulous day and thanks for your company.

Love it love it love it! It’s great with that big die – definitely one that gives a good focal point to it all and the stencilling is perfect. I do dance like no one is watching…. no one would want to watch me dance!! xx
