Hello friends!
How are you all doing? Now that the festivities are over and we are back to normality, aside from trying to recover from all the food we have eaten and all the rushing around we have done, it’s only natural that we start to think about what’s next. And for me, that usually means back to the craft room.
But. And it’s a big but. I’ve not made a card in the past week, I have not had the motivation at all. I’ve sat and looked at my “unused” supplies and yet could not bring myself to make a card. I have felt totally overwhelmed and tired.
BUT, at the same time, I miss making cards! So when that happens, I have a few tried and tested stamp sets that never let me down. Altenew’s Beautiful Day is one of them, and today, I made a card!
It’s very similar to a design of one I made last year with the same set, but I changed the colours and the background. I often CASE my own cards when I don’t have the head space to come up with something new. So let’s get into the card itself…
The two main floral images were stamped onto Bristol smooth cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I reached for my Zigs and took two colours out, a pink and a yellow – yes, that’s all I used. Let’s not over complicate things when we are struggling! So I did a few layers for each flower, the second layer was mostly just to add some deeper tones where I felt it needed it. And not for the first time I wished I had bought the dies ๐ but I fussy cut the two flowers out.
I took Altenew’s Morning Frost and Evening Gray inks and stamped the two layered leaves onto an A2 Neenah panel. For the smaller outline images I used Lava Rock. I had to keep placing the watercoloured flowers down on the card to see where to stamp the foliage, so that the images wouldn’t get lost behind.
The splatters were made with some smooshed Lava Rock ink and a No 2 Round brush, just to give some added interest to the background and then once dry, I adhered the flowers on top. One was flat onto the panel, the top left floral is popped up with foam tape. The panel was trimmed to slightly smaller than A2.
Lastly, I cut a strip of MFT Black and White striped paper, adhered it to a Neenah 110lb base card and then popped the trimmed panel on top. The sentiment from Altenew’s Amazing You was white heat embossed on black cardstock and die-cut with SSS Sentiment Label Dies. It was adhered with foam tape and I added a few sequins from Lucy’s cards to embellish.
So that finished my card and you can never have too many floral cards ready to be sent out. Do you have a go-to stamp set to help kick start your creativity? You definitely can’t go wrong with this one.
Wishing you all a fabulous week and thank you for spending time with me. I will be back on Friday with a video for you but in the meantime, happy crafting!
