Hello again friends, I am delighted to be joining Picket Fence Studios today to celebrate their 1 year anniversary!
I have been lucky enough to have played with some of their stamps during this past year and have thoroughly enjoyed doing so. Since April 25th, Picket Fence have been celebrating this fabulous milestone – each day a different designer from around the world has been showcasing their stamps and today it is my turn.
So here is my card today, I am using the lovely A Dose of Vitamin Sea set, along with a fabulous Splash die and a great encouragement sentiment set.
This card is pretty clean and simple for me but as always I throw in some bold colour and a bit of sparkle! It is tricky to see the sparkle in the photographs sadly but it is there under the splash and looks very twinkly in real life. I began my card by creating the glitter panel as it takes time to dry. I did this by taking a piece of cardstock large enough to sit behind the splash die opening and applying Nuvo Glimmer Paste onto the panel using a palette knife and setting it aside to dry. You could have applied the paste directly onto your base card but sometimes I find it warps the card if you have too thick a layer and so to avoid this I just did it on some separate card and adhered that to the base once dried. You could also have cut a piece of glitter card and used that behind the die but that wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun as getting the paste out and getting a little messy!
Next I worked on the front panel. I created a mask by drawing a wave border onto some masking paper and cutting it out. I then applied Distress Oxides from top to bottom – Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and then Chipped Sapphire right at the bottom. I taped the splash die down onto the panel at the top of the wave and ran it through the Gemini Junior.
The whales are from A Dose Of Vitamin Sea and I stamped those using Versamark ink and then applied white embossing powder and heat set. You could have stamped the whales first onto your panel and then applied ink over the top as the embossing powder resists the ink, but I preferred to do it this way around today. If you do it this way, you just need to make sure your inked panel is completely dry before stamping and applying the embossing powder otherwise you will end up with lots of stray particles.
I added foam tape to the back of my inked panel and popped it onto my card base so there is dimension below the splash which makes it stand out more. To finish, I took one of the sentiments from It’s Going To Be Okay, cut it apart and then white heat embossed both parts onto black cardstock. These were added to the panel with foam tape after I had trimmed them with some sentiment label dies.
That sentiment is definitely one I need to take note of – maybe I shall send this to myself! Thank you so much for joining me today. I wish Picket Fence the happiest of anniversaries and thank them for inviting me to be a part of their celebrations. I look forward to seeing what they have planned for the future. Don’t go folks, you need to read on as there is exciting and fun stuff for you to enjoy!
