Hi there! Welcome back to my final day of countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted June release. All the sets will be available for purchase on 1st June (tomorrow) at 8pm (BST) here at Clearly Besotted in the UK and over at Simon Says Stamp. For my final card, I am doing a little bit of watercolouring and sharing some inspiration for the lovely Sunny Sundae set.
This is a smaller set of images, there are 5 to choose from and today I picked three and did some repeat stamping and watercolouring. Not my usual style but it’s good to mix it up a little once in a while.
I wanted to use my Zigs today but this time I decided to try them out on Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour cardstock. Not my finest hour I must admit – the blending takes some getting used to, and there was also a little bit of bleeding because I wasn’t really used to using them on this type of cardstock. I know that you can use them on watercolour cardstocks but I always tend to use Strathmore Bristol Smooth as they blend so easily on that and most people do use that cardstock for Zigs. But having said that, the end result was still pretty so I continued with the card
I kicked off by picking three images, lining them up and then I stamped them using the MISTI so that I could double stamp if necessary (there is texture on this cardstock). I used Versafine Onyx Black ink as it is a waterproof ink. I then took the three images, changed the order of them and stamped them for the second and third lines. I did draw pencil lines on the cardstock for the top and middle lines so that they would all be evenly spaced down the card (do not underestimate how much time this took me making sure this was right – I had to do several panels before it all looked ok!)
I then set about watercolouring the images. I tried to keep the colours to a minimum so that it wouldn’t look a complete random mess and so that there is a rhythm and consistency to the overall card. I have listed the colours below in case you are interested, and mostly I used two colours for each scoop of ice cream. I added some shadow with a light grey to ground the glasses and fill in some of the white area. To add some extra interest, I put some Crystal Glaze onto the strawberries, cherries, sprinkles and sauce.
To finish the card, I mounted it onto some SSS Doll Pink cardstock and then onto a top folding base card. My sentiment comes from the previously released Love You More set which I thought worked perfectly with the sundaes. The two sentiments were white heat embossed on black cardstock and then popped up with foam tape. I used my trusty SSS Sentiment Label Dies to trim them down – so handy, especially for skinny strips. I honestly don’t know how I lived without them!
And that finishes the card. I love ice cream, and not just in summer. But I don’t allow myself to have it too often, unless I am on holiday and then it is compulsory to eat it every day! I will be back tomorrow with a round up of my teasers and links to all the new sets – some of which I have not had a chance to use yet. I hope to share some inspiration with those extra sets soon.
In the meantime, I am sure Stephanie, Keren and Michelle have something to whet your appetite, and they would love a visit from you. Thank you as always for joining me this week, I appreciate you all taking the time to read and leave me lovely comments. They make my day! Until tomorrow friends…..
