Hi folks, it’s day three of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted July release. Today’s card is a trifold card and features the super sweet moles from Mischievous Mole. I cannot remember the last time I did a trifold card, but thought I would do something a bit different for you today.
I recently watched a video from Jennifer McGuire and so my idea came from that video. I thought the moles would look cute behind the window.
I began by creating my trifold card by cutting two panels of Neenah 110. Each panel is 8.5″ x 5.5″ and scored at 4.25″. You then adhere the two back panels of each notecard together and that forms your trifold card. But, before joining them together, I worked on my front panel and for this I took the Seeing Stars stencil, taped it down and applied SSS Fog Ink through it to provide a subtle addition to the front of the card. The heart window was created by using a HA Heart Infinity Die.
I then took a panel of Neenah 80lb and stamped the two moles from Mischevous Mole, made a mask for each, and then stamped the sun mini background stamp from Cheeky Chappy. To “contain” my colouring/ink blending, I put some masking tape around the edges of the stamped images and set about colouring it in.
First of all, I left the masks on the moles and blended Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn distress inks onto the panel. I then removed the mole masks and coloured the rest of the scene with Copics (listed below). Once all that was done, I removed the masking tape from around the whole image, and as you can see this way it has nice clean edges. Next I stamped the “I’d pick you” greeting from the set with Versafine and adhered this whole panel into my trifold card with DST.
To finish the card, I took some SSS Doll Pink cardstock and stamped “If Friends Were Flowers” onto it before trimming with with my SSS Sentiment Label dies. This was added over the heart window with Multi Medium Matte. I like how it turned out in the end and it’s nice to see a whole scene reveal when you open it up. It’s pretty simple to make this kind of card, just just need to make sure that you line everything up correctly so it reveals as you want through the window at the front – takes a little planning but not much.
Thanks for joining me today. As always I love to hear from you and am always happy to answer questions. Before you dash off, do hop over to visit Stephanie, Keren and Michelle and our July guest designer, Amy, to see what they have created today. I’m off to do that now! See you tomorrow for my final teaser. Have a great evening!
Copics used: Moles (E41, E42, E43, E44, RV09, B0000), Sun (Y00, Y02, Y08), Flower (YG25, RV63, RV66)
