Hello there
A quick post today as I pop in and share a card I whipped up this afternoon for the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge. Do you ever play along in challenges? I don’t often have time and this one was definitely a challenge for me as it was “one layer card”. Those that know me know I like dimension, at least two layers on a card. But anyway, I thought I’d give it a bash.
I pulled out my SSS Sketched Flowers set – another one of my all time favourite florals (I have so many I know, but it’s true, they will all go to my grave with me!). First of all I masked off a small strip at the top of the Neenah 110lb base card, and then added another strip further down the card front before stamping the floral into the gap with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then removed the two masks (as they now had wet ink on them which smudges easily), and I replaced them with two new strips. I wanted to make sure I had defined lines to colour within so needed to keep the masks in place.
The floral image section was then coloured with Copics. I used W1 for the background so that it is subtle but provides a clear contrast from the white on the rest of the panel (more obvious in the flesh). I tried out some new color combinations and went for a completely different colour palette to normal – this feels quite like an Autumn palette to me. It’s a little bit more vibrant in real life and I love the different look to what I normally produce! I apologise but I did not keep a note of the exact combinations on each flower as I was playing around somewhat, but I will list all the markers I used below.
I finished by stamping the “Hello” from the set with Versafine Onyx Black. As you can see the Copics on the inside of the front panel where they have bled through, I will adhere a sheet of white paper to cover the colouring before I mail it out. It’s always worth remembering (at least I should) that when time is short, just a small section of the image, looks just as lovely as seeing the whole flower in full. Wishing you all a happy Wednesday, thank you for stopping by.
Copics used: W1, R20, R30, E000, E50, G94, YG63, G21, YG03, YG67, YG99, YR00, YR02, YR14, Y21, Y23, Y35
