Hello everyone! Yes, it’s that time of year again woo hoo! 1st September marks the start of the biggest party in town as we embark on a month long celebration over at Simon Says Stamp!
And this year is even more special, it marks the 10 year anniversary of STAMPtember – where did those years go? So, to kick start the celebrations, Simon Says Stamp has a new release out today and I was kindly sent a die to have a play with! Let me tell you, this die is so pretty and it is called Fancy Missing You. It’s intricate and gorgeous! I have two cards to share with you, one today and one tomorrow, so make sure to check back tomorrow as there is something extra fun happening then.
Today’s card features the die using an inlay technique. One of my favourite techniques. Not gonna lie, you need a fair bit of time for this card, and you also need good eyesight (as I found out!)
The die comes in two parts, the main floral die and also an outer shadow die if you wanted to cut a window or use some cardstock or vellum behind it. I didn’t use the shadow option today. I began by taking some SSS Fog cardstock and die cutting the main floral image from it, discarding the bit I didn’t need – I just needed the outer frame at this stage. I then took the die and cut it again from Neenah 80lb cardstock. To inlay the white outline die cut into the Fog frame, I took a piece of white cardstock the same size as the fog and added some Stick It adhesive onto one side. I then placed the Fog cardstock on top, and inserted the white outline die cut. This way, there is now DST in all the sections that need to be filled in.
Next I took some green cardstock, die cut the image from that and inserted all the little green pieces into the white frame. I repeated the process with SSS Doll Pink and SSS Lavender card to finsh the main sections in the image. And then I found all the little miscellaneous Fog pieces and inserted those where necessary. This is the bit where you need really good eyesight!
It does take a while, but it is very therapeutic filling in all the sections and watching the image come to life – really just like a jigsaw in real life and I always love doing a jigsaw. I used the WRMK Quick Stick to help me pick the pieces up and insert them into the frame – a handy tool to have in your stash.
To finish the card, I took some black cardstock and heat embossed a sentiment from SSS Tiny Words onto it. This was trimmed with the thinnest of the SSS Sentiment Label Dies and then popped it up with foam tape. White Orchid sequins from Lucy’s cards were adhered with Multi Medium Matte and were the finishing touch. The fog panel was then mounted onto a white Neenah 110lb base.
So, what do you think? Do you ever try the inlay technique? I recommend having a go if you haven’t, it always gives such lovely results and I think is such a special card for someone to receive.
Make sure to check back tomorrow for my second card with this die. As I mentioned above there is something fun happening – a party! Until then, happy crafting and thanks for stopping by today!

Oh this is so pretty, Lisa! That inlay must have taken ages but it was so worth it. What a beautiful result. Love the colours you have chosen too xx
