Hello again everyone! Today is no ordinary day! I am back and taking part in a super fun blog party with Simon Says Stamp! Lots of crafters have got together today to join in the party and celebrate all that is STAMPtember – yay! And why not! It’s the most fun time of the year in our community and we will be sharing inspiration with you using products from the new release!
A full list of all the participants is over on the Simon Says Stamp blog so make sure you head over there when you are finished here. This isn’t a blog hop, so you don’t need to hop along, but you do need to go scavenging instead! Each person has a special coupon to share with you! And they are randomised, so make sure you go hunting at as many people’s blogs as you can to see what promotion they have to offer you before you go shopping!
So let’s get started with today’s card. I was sent the lovely Fancy Missing You die and yesterday I created this card. Today, I have very different look for you. I’ve been itching to get my watercolours out for a while and this seemed like the perfect time. I thought a loose soft watercolour background would look really pretty behind the die.
For my watercolouring I used the Gansai Tambi 36 pan set and picked seven colours to create my background. The numbers that I used are 35, 30, 33, 43, 51, 63, 139 which took me through pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. A pretty pastel rainbow! To create the wash I first laid down a layer of water onto some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock using a flat brush. I then worked through the individual colours, diluting them slightly first before adding them onto the wet part of the panel – so this is a wet on wet technique and this really helps to get the colours moving around.
After I finished the first layer and had heat set it, I then went in with two further layers, heat setting in between to get the depth and vibrancy that I wanted. But I didn’t want to go too bright so the trick is to use diluted paint on each layer. After the third layer, I laid some Perfect Pearls onto my mat, added some water and mixed it to a loose consistency, picked it up with a small brush, and splattered it over the panel. It is super pretty in real life – the Perfect Pearls gives a beautiful champagne shimmer across the card when you tilt it in the light.
I trimmed the watercoloured panel down and adhered it with DST to an A2 card base made from SSS Smoke Gray cardstock. I then die cut the Fancy Missing You twice from Neenah 80lb, and used a spray adhesive to adhere one on top of the other, and also onto the card.
To finish the card off, I found a sentiment in SSS Vacation Time that I thought would fit well with the Missing You. I stamped this with Versafine Onyx Black onto SSS Fog cardstock, trimmed it down with a Sentiment Label die and then popped it up with foam tape.
So, the moment you have all been waiting for. Here is my promotion for you! Isn’t this fun – who doesn’t want to be sprinkled in unicorn dust glitter! Happy shopping folks!
Thank you for stopping by today, remember to check the list of participants out and visit as many blogs as you can to see what other fun you might find!

Yesterday’s card was very pretty but I think today’s was the best of the two. I love the lovely watercolors in the background. Any card made with this die would be fabulous.
