Hello there everyone. It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for another Weekly Sketch Challenge over at My Favorite Things. This week I have a floral card for you. You didn’t think I would leave it that long before I managed to use the beautiful Floral Focus set did you?
So, this weeks sketch looks like this.
And here is my interpretation of the sketch for you.
Well what can I say. This floral is a stunner. It comes as one complete image but you can actually separate it into two smaller flower arrangements if you cut it carefully. For my card this week, I went with the whole image as I wanted the full impact across the card. I stamped it out onto some Neenah using MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Ink and then coloured it with my Copics (numbers listed below) along with added touches of Polychromos Pencils (177 Walnut Brown and 191 Pompeian Red). It was cut with the coordinating dienamics and set to one side whilst I worked on my background.
I took some Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks and used blending brushes to apply my ink over two corners of a card panel, starting darker and then working lighter towards the midde of the card. The blending brushes are new to me and it does take a while to build up the colour but that’s ok, you don’t get any foam pad marks at all – they do blend ink beautifully. This panel was then adhered to a base card with wet adhesive.
Next I die cut the MFT Bold Stripes Cover-Up Dienamics from white cardstock and stamped the word Thanks from MFT Bitty Thanks & Gratitude. I added some wet adhesive onto the back and adhered it down onto the inked panel. My flower arrangement has some foam tape on the back so there is some dimension on the card. Lastly I added some White Orchid sequins from Lucy’s cards for embellishment.
I really hope you get a chance to play along in the challenge, so much fun and I enjoy seeing the entries. People create such interesting cards – it’s always inspiring! I’ll be back next week with my final sketch challenge card for you. I hope you have a great week and a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
Copics used: Large Flowers (YR00, YR02, YR14), Smaller Flowers (YR21, YR23, YR24), Leaves (YG01, YG03, YG67)
