Hello there friends!
Today I am delighted to be sharing two cards with you using the beautiful set that Simon Says Stamp have released today from Clearly Besotted as part of the STAMPtember celebrations! It’s no secret that Clearly Besotted design beautiful floral images (as well as those super cute critters!) So, today, my cards feature the set called Celebrate The Season and it is a super lovely wreath image. As with all sets sold as part of STAMPtember, once this is sold out it won’t be released/available again, so you need to be quick!
For my first card, I went with a traditional Scandinavian Christmas palette – red and white, with splashes of green.
I stamped the main wreath image onto Neenah 80lb with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Copics (the numbers are listed below if you are interested). Next, I took the separate bow image and the small poinsettia images and stamped those separately. They were also coloured with Copics and all images were then cut with the coordinating die cuts.
To assemble the card, I adhered a Schoolhouse Red panel flat onto a 110lb base card. This colour cardstock is a beautiful rich red, perfect for Christmas time, I adore it! I then added foam mounting tape to the wreath and bow images and popped them on top. The sentiment was white heat embossed onto the same red cardstock and this was adhered with a a mix of foam tape and Multi Medium Matte, so it sits flat across the wreath. To make sure I got a nice even cut, as I am inclined to cut things wonky, I used my SSS Sentiment Label dies for this strip. I then added the two little poinsetties to the sides of the greeting – these also had some foam tape on the back.
To embellish the card, I used some Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer on the leaves, poinsettias, pines and bow. Plus a little Tonic Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the flower centres. Not forgetting some of my trusty Ranger Stickles in Christmas Red for the berries!
For the next card I went with a more contemporary colour palette and I used Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils for this card, so it took a little while to colour and gives a completely different look and feel.
For this card I stamped the image onto Neenah 80lb using MFT Steel Gray Hybrid ink and left the stamps in the MISTI so that I could go back in and stamp again once I had done the colouring. The pencil colours I used are listed below in case you are interested. As with all pencil colouring, it did take some time to do as you generally work in layers.
Once I had finished colouring, I started assembling the card. This time around I just coloured the wreath and bow, I didn’t add the additional poinsettias on top. I adhered some blue cardstock onto a 110lb base card and popped the wreath and bow up with foam tape. I took some Schoolhouse Red cardstock, white heat embossed the sentiment and die cut it with the Sentiment Label Dies. However, for this card I wanted the sentiment strip to show right across the entire width of the card rather than hide some of it under additional floral images. I love the bold pop of red against the icy blue. It’s a combination I use often at Christmas.
I didn’t embellish this card at all as I often think it looks better to leave pencils to reveal their true texture.

Of course I LOVE the red one the best (the blue is also gorgeous but I am biased to red….) and I particularly love the way you added the dimension on top with the extra poinsettias. No wonder you’re getting on so well with doing your Christmas cards with this sort of set!

Both of your colour combinations are stunning. Do adore the traditional Xmas colours all bright & warm but then I also admire the modern look of the cooler colours. Great look to both Lisa x
