Hello there! It’s Clearly Besotted Countdown Teaser time and this month we have the Christmas release for you! Yay! I’ve been looking forward to this release for AGES and let me tell you that this is a wonderful release. There are a lot of new sets coming this month and it is packed with cuteness, wonderful sentiments and scene building options. Over the next five days, I will be sharing cards with you using just some of the sets, so make sure you also visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they are showcasing! Today I am kicking off with a lovely set called Christmas Corners. It has two different corner image options plus a couple of extra images you can add into your scene. And there are mice! But mice of the cutest kind…..
How sweet is that corner illustration?! When I saw this I was immediately drawn into trying to create a vintage Christmas feel on my card. I just felt the image lended itself to something cosy and warm. And I went with no-line colouring – it gives a much softer, less crisp look when there are no black outlines around your images. And that sentiment – isn’t that just fabulous?! I love the size and beautiful font – it gives great impact on the card. I hope I get some more time to play with this set. Anyway I digress, onto the card. I took some Arches Cold Pressed paper and stamped the image using Ink On Three Fade Out Ink. This is a great ink for no-line colouring as it fades as you colour. I did stamp the image twice (using the MISTI) to make sure I got a good impression, especially as the cold pressed paper is a little textured.
I used Distress Inks to paint my image (details listed below) and worked in layers. I started with my lightest layer so that I could kind of fill in each area of the image. I then built up the colouring with more layers and different shades. I worked around the image painting sections that were not next to each other, to lesson any bleeding, letting those dry and then going back to each individual area again and adding more colour. So that the eyes on the mouse were not too black, I used a dark brown Polychromos pencil to soften the look. Next I added a warm, soft background by just using a couple of layers of Antique Linen Distress Ink and left it to dry.
The sentiment from the set was stamped with MFT Steel Gray Hybrid Ink and was triple stamped in the MISTI because of the texture on the cardstock. Foam sheet was adhered onto the back and the panel popped onto a SSS Ivory square base card which I cut to 4.75″ x 4.75″. By the way, this cardstock is a brilliant match for Arches watercolour cardstock, a tip I picked up from the lovely Debby Hughes.
So, that brings me to the end of my first teaser for you. Do hop over to visit Stephanie, Keren , Michelle and our fabulous guest designer Joy to see what they have created. The Christmas sets will be released on 1st October, so you have a few days to wait and I will be back tomorrow with the second teaser. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
