Hello there everyone, I am happy to be back on the Foiled Fox blog today and sharing this festive Christmas card with you. For me, nothing depicts a traditional Christmas quite like red and gold so I thought I would use those colours on my card today.
I thought the Serene Snowflakes from My Favorite Things was a beautiful set. The snowflakes are differing sizes and slightly varying shapes, but they are quite bold in size. Not skinny delicate snowflakes so I thought they would pack a punch and be able to stand up to all that bold red!
To start off, I arranged a selection of snowflakes over my cardstock panel. I used my MISTI so I could double stamp and ensure good coverage. I then applied Versamark Ink, and then Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. This was heat set and I then added a few more snowflakes around the edges and a small snowflakes here and there in the gaps and repeated the process. I did get some stray embossing powder around some of the snowflakes which I decided to leave as it looks like a little flecks of gold and I think is really pretty on the finished card.
I have used four inks to apply my colour. Lots of layers to build up the depth starting with Candied Apple which I applied all over the panel, then adding Festive Berries, leaving the centre of the card lighter. Aged Mahogany was then added around the edges and finally, my secret weapon, Ground Espresso which really darkens the colour at the edge but blends beautifully with all the reds.
The panel was adhered to a top folding base card with DST and then I stamped a sentiment from MFT Snow Globe Sentiments three times onto white cardstock, applied the same gold embossing powder and heat set. I trimmed the sentiments with the MFT Skinny Sentiments and popped them on top with foam tape.
That finished the card. I really love how rich the red is against the fabulous gold and this is definitely one I will be making again. Thanks for joining me today, I hope you all have a great day!
