Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. It’s a strange old world at the moment, but staying home can work to your advantage for sure! It’s a great opportunity to head to the craft room and pull out a beautiful stamp and have a practice at whatever medium takes your fancy. I have gone with some no line colouring today on this beautiful Rose Garden stamp from My Favorite Things.
And instead of traditional watercolors, I pulled out my zigs. The first time I have ever done any no-line colouring with them, from memory. I stamped the image onto some Strathmore Bristol Smooth using the MISTI as I needed to triple stamp it so I could see it properly (!) and for this I used Antique Linen Distress Ink as it fades as you paint over it. I only used a few colours on the blooms, and leaves as I wanted to try and not over saturate my panel with colour for once!
Rather than leaving the image with a completely white background, I felt like I wanted a dusty, muted look so I took the Blue Gray zig, scribbled it onto an acrylic block and picked the colour up from there, each time making sure I diluted it a little. Once that had dried, I went over some of the areas to darken them by adding Blue Gray direct from the marker.
To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from MFT Floral Focus in Versafine Clair Nocturne but I only stamped it once, so it actually looks really like a dark gray sentiment, which is what I wanted.
I added a few raindrops from Lucy’s cards, mounted it flat onto a 110 Neenah A2 base card and called it done. I have a feeling it won’t be long before this stamp comes out again. It was really relaxing to colour it. Have a great evening everyone and I will be back soon with another card for you. Stay safe!
Zigs used: Deep Red, Pale Rose, Sugared Almond Pink, Olive Green, Mid Green, Light Brown, Blue Gray
