Hi there everyone, welcome back to day two of the Clearly Besotted countdown teasers for the August release. Today’s card is a very CAS card for me, and features some cute little penguins from All Four Seasons. As with most of this release, this is another fun set based around all the four seasons of the year but this set focuses solely on cute little penguins. So you have a ton of images to pick from depending on whether you want a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter card. Today, I am still in summer mode!
I went with an ink smooshed background for today’s card. To create this I smooshed some Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean Distress Inks onto my media mat and then spritzed both with water. I took a small piece of acetate and picked up some of the blue ink and smooshed it down onto the cardstock. I have used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour cardstock for this technique and the smaller the acetate piece, the more control you have over where you lay the ink down. I did the sky first (a couple of layers), heat set it each time and then added the grassy area in. I did get a little green ink in the sky, but decided to not worry about it too much, it’s not supposed to be precise – fluid is everything with smooshing!
Next I took two of the summer themed penguins, Copic coloured them and then fussy cut them. These were popped up onto the panel with foam tape and I added a little shimmer to the kite and flower but you can’t see that in the photos sadly. The sentiment comes from Tiny Type and popped up with foam tape. I stuck them down at an angle as it’s a bit more playful this way and let’s face it they are having fun in the sun, right?
To finish, I added a strip of MFT black and white paper onto the bottom of my base card and then adhered the watercoloured panel on top with DST. I took a WRMK Corner Chomper and rounded the top right corner for a little added interest.
And that finishes today’s card. Not something I usually create but I loved how it turned out. It’s amazing how an imperfect splotch of blue and green can say summer sky and field when you pop a few critters on top. Do hop over to see what my friends have created for you today – Stephanie, Michelle and Keren.
I’ll be back with my third teaser tomorrow. Happy crafting!

So cute, the penguins are just too adorable, they seem to be having so much fun. Like the bright pop of inks in the background, very much like the skies we are having here, on & off. Now what’s tomorrow ???
