Welcome back to day two of the Clearly Besotted countdowns for the July release. Today I have a card featuring a set called Thanks A Melon. So much fun as you get a ready to stamp beach scene in which you can place your turtles!
To start off, I stamped the beach/water scene onto my cardstock and then also stamped it onto some masking paper. I fussy cut the mask, laid it over the image and then created my cloudy sky using the Cloudy Day stencil and some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I removed the mask and then coloured the rest of the scene with Copics.
This did take a little while and when I started colouring I thought I had picked the right shades for sand. And when I had finished, I thought it looked more like mud, or at least a beach in the UK! Not quite the lovely pink sands of the Caribbean. But I wasn’t about to start again, there was a lot of colouring on this card.
Next I took one of the turtle/melon images from the set – again, there are lots to select from but I wanted mine to be floating down the water splash. A surfing turtle in a melon! Kind of, if your stretch your imagination….. I popped it up with foam tape for some dimension as this card was quite flat at this stage.
To finish I took three sentiments from the set and embossed them onto black cardstock and popped them up them radomly over the scene. The turtle looks happy, but maybe he hasn’t seen the big splash he is about to bob into! I’ll be back tomorrow with less antics, but in the meantime head on over to the Clearly Besotted Blog, Michelle and Keren and see what they have to delight you today.

What a great scene- and no, it’s doesn’t look like mud, just a darker sand. Your turtle looks so happy careering down the water! x
