Hello! We are halfway through the countdown teasers for the September release from Clearly Besotted. Today I have a Halloween card for you using the new Creepy Corners set. For those of you that follow Clearly Besotted you will know that during the past year, they have released several corner sets and they now have one for the most spooky time of the year! I decided to forgo the corner image options on my card today and picked the single image. So here is today’s card.
I thought it would be fun to use the very popular Splat It stencil for my card as I was only using a few images. This really helps to draw the eye in to a particular section on the card and it’s a fab stencil to have in your stash as it works with so many of the existing stamp sets. So to start I took a white cardstock panel and die cut it with the largest of the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn. This is an A2 size die so it covers your whole panel.
Next I took the stencil, applied some Frog Tape to secure it down onto the panel and then blended Seedless Preserves, Twisted Citron and Wild Honey Distress Oxides, making sure to use a heavier blend on the outside and fading out towards the middle. Having a lighter area in the middle serves as a highlight and helps the images to pop a bit more.
Next I took a couple of images from the Creepy Corners set and coloured them with Copics before fussy cutting them. I popped some foam tape on the back of them and adhered them down onto the card. The sentiment is from the set and I thought it would be fun to make it a circular sentiment – this works really well for small sentiments and is something a bit different. At least for me! After heat embossing the sentiment and trimming it with a SSS Stitched Circle die, I secured it down onto the base with DST.
To finish I added Tonic Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the pumpkin and candles and adhered the panel flat onto a top folding base card. And that finished the card.
I have always loved stencils, they are so versatile and I particularly love this one as it is definitely fun on a card! Do hop over to the Clearly Besotted blog, Michelle, Keren and our guest designer Francine. I am looking forward to seeing what they have created. Until tomorrow, happy crafting!
