Welcome back to the penultimate day of countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted October release. Tomorrow is release day, but we still have a few cards left to share with you before you can go shopping! Today’s card features a couple of cute penguins who have a penchant for Christmas treats. Don’t we all! And I have gone super CAS for this card after yesterday’s explosion of red! This set is called Christmas Plushies.
I don’t often do purple backgrounds so I thought I would have one of those today for a change. The panel was created by taking a Taylored Expressions rectangle masking stencil and laying that down over a panel of white cardstock. I then took the MFT Drifts & Hills stencil and laid that over the top. Both stencils were secured with Frog Tape so they don’t shift and ruin all my hard work! I used blending brushes to blend Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord Distress Oxides above the stencil, fading out towards the top. I then removed the Drifts & Hills stencil and blended a small amount of Shaded Lilac around the bottom and side edges so that you would have a defined rectangle border. You can’t see it well in the photos but it frames the little critters better so they don’t look like they are floating around on white space.
I took the new Christmas Plushies set and stamped two of the penguins onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock using PFS Black Hybrid Ink. I coloured them with my Zigs, left them to dry and fussy cut them out. To add a little bit more interest to this very CAS card, I ran the blended ink panel through the Gemini Junior with a LF Stitched Rectangle Stackables die and then adhered it down onto the card base.
The greeting was stamped using Versafine Clair Nocturne and the little penguins popped up with some foam tape. At this point I dug out my Christmas Red Stickles (they come out every year without fail!) and added some onto the candy cane and berry just for a little sparkle. I hope you have some spare time to hop over to the Clearly Besotted Blog, Michelle, Keren and our two fabulous guest designers, Francine and Caly. I will be back tomorrow with my final card for you. In the meantime, thanks for joining me and happy crafting!

It’s just utterly adorable! I love the purple background and I need to get me some of those rectangle frames – maybe put them on my birthday list!

Oh my goodness- this is so cute!! I have to have a large sparkly candy cane. Maybe I could make a bag like that for December!!! I love this card- it’s brilliant! x

Aww, this is absolutely adorable, Lisa! I love the purple background (of course!) but I especially love the lighter shade at the bottom for the snow, that works so well! Your colouring on the critters is beautiful and love the Stickles! xx
