Welcome back to the second day of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted November release. And it just wouldn’t be Christmas without lots of sparkle and some cute reindeer would it? But today I have added my sparkle in a different way, and I have to say, I love how this turned out. The sweet deer are from the new Prancing Plushies.
To create my background, I need a boatload of stencils. Well three actually, but it felt like a lot and there were stencils and tape all over the place! To start off I took the Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil and taped my cardstock panel to the back of it. I then took the Freshly Cut stencil and taped that down a little way from the bottom of my panel so that it would leave an area that would look like a snow bank. There is one more stencil needed, but that happens in a minute! First off, I blended Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks onto my panel. I really saturated the colour around the top and edges, so that the lighter area was centred on the card and would highlight my reindeer and the stars in the sky. I then took the Starry Sky stencil and placed that down over the top and blended the colours again but with a lighter hand! I removed all the stencils and then set my panel aside to dry.
I took two of the reindeer from Prancing Plushies and stamped one down onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then created a mask, popped that on top and stamped the second deer next to the first. I coloured them with Copics (numbers listed below) and then fussy cut them out. I put the ink blended panel back into the MISTI and took the Merry Christmas sentiment from Feeling Sentimental and stamped that using Versafine Clair Nocturne. The deer were then popped on with foam tape.
So, I have had these most gorgeous gems from Studio Katia for a couple of years – they are called Midnight Blue Crystals and they are absolutely stunning. I thought they would look pretty in the starry sky and started to arrange them in the centres of all the stars but they looked too uniform as they were in straight lines. So I tipped them all off and then added them onto the panel randomly using Multi Medium Matte. There are several different sizes which adds even more interest and in the light some have a bigger sparkle than others – so so pretty!
The whole panel was added onto a top folding card base. For embellishment I added some Tonic Crystal Glaze to their noses and some black glaze pen to their eyes and called it done. It really is so pretty in real life and I really must add more jewels to my cards in future. Do hop over to the Clearly Besotted blog and then onto Michelle and Keren to see what they have in store for you. I will be tomorrow with my third teaser for you. Until then, happy crafting!
