Hello everyone, I hope you are all well! We are continuing today with our countdown teasers for the June 2021 release from Clearly Besotted. The sets will be live to purchase tomorrow (5th June, 8pm BST) but in the meantime, we have lots more to share with you. Today, my card features the return of the hippos – and this time they come complete with flowers to thank you all for your support! This fabulous new set is called Flower Friends and I love it. That is not all though – there is also a new set called Flower Friends Additions which features a super cute flower line up but I didn’t use it on my card for today.
I’ve been very pushed for time the past few months, my dad has been really really poorly for a while and has needed lots of tests and scans and finally an operation. So when I am pushed for time and also don’t have a lot of head space, I look back at previous card designs and see if I can make them work with a new set. That is what I did for this card today.
It’s a really simple card to make with not too much colouring either. I began by masking off a section at the top of my white panel and then using Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blended Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxides onto the panel. I am in love with the new Salvaged Patina colour in the Distress Range – it is just so so pretty and blends in so well with the other blue/green colours. It really is the most gorgeous colour!
After I finished blending, I spritzed some water over the ink, let it sit for a bit and then picked it up with a paper towel. This just adds a little bit more interest to the background. I set it aside to dry before adhering it flat onto a white base card using DST.
The two hippos and bees are all from the new set Flower Friends. They were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto 80lb white cardstock, coloured with my trusty Copics and fussy cut out. I took a sentiment from the set and stamped it onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Detail embossing powder and heat set before trimming it out.
To finish the card, I added a small strip of MFT Black & White Stripes paper onto the bottom of the black sentiment before adhering the whole thing flat onto the panel. The hippos and bees were added with foam tape to complete the card. Clean and Simple for sure, but I really liked how it turned out.

I absolutely LOVE going back to older designs and redoing them in new stamps – there is no shame in that at all. Shows just how well they work! Love those bees! xx

The spritzed blending is a perfect base for those two cuties! Love the scene and your colours are just perfect. I could do with a giant flower to hold too! x
