Hello and welcome back to the Clearly Besotted countdown teasers for the October release. Today I have another Christmas card for you and this one is super clean and simple. For today’s cuteness I am using the Merry Meerkat set. This set is following in the same vein as the others, a plethora of cute meerkats to create your scene, plus some prickly succulents to accompany them!

I fancied doing a little bit of watercolouring again today. I often find watercolouring more relaxing than Copics – there is no rhyme or reason to that at all. Maybe because I use Copics a lot, I like the change. Nonetheless, a happy half an hour was spent colouring in these three images from the set.
I began by taking a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour cardstock and stamping the meerkat using Versafine Clair Nocturne as it was already out on my desk. I ususally use Versafine Onyx Black when I watercolour, but they are both pigment inks and both suitable for watercolour. I then created a mask for the meerkat and stamped two succulents either side.
I took out my Daniel Smith Watercolours tin again and set to work. I pretty much always layer the colours up as I paint – three of each colour to get the finished look. I rarely heat set if I am colouring small images as I find that the layer has dried before I get around to adding it’s subsequent layer.
The sentiment is from Tiny Type which is an older set – but I love it’s small font and thought it would work well under the little scene.
Once the panel was completely dry, I die cut it with a Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle, added some foam sheet to the back and then matted it over a panel of kraft cardstock. The kraft cardstock had also been trimmed so that it would mat onto a top folding horizontal A2 white card base.
Head over to the Clearly Besotted blog, Michelle and Keren and our guests Francine and Alberto (Instagram) to see more inspiration with the sets. I’ll be back again tomorrow with another card for you, but thank you for spending time with me. Happy crafting!

I love watercolouring too but rarely seem to do it. You’re inspiring me for next month. I love the softness of this little scene- so perfectly cute! x

Aww, what a sweet scene, Lisa! I love your watercolouring as always, gives a lovely softness to the images. I love how you added the Kraft cardstock. Makes a perfect backdrop to the scene and frames it perfectly! xx
