Hello there friends! I hope you are all well and enjoying all the inspiration for the November 2021 release from Clearly Besotted. Today’s countdown teaser features some super sweet bees buzzing around and generally having fun decorating their hive and it’s supporting branch with some baubles! I couldn’t go a whole year without making a gold and red Christmas card so today, I have exactly that for you. And as mentioned earlier in the week, it is another mini slimline card. I hope that I have whet your appetite for these fun sized cards.

The set being showcased by me today is called Bee Merry. There are lots of different bees to choose from but I just picked one with a bauble for my card and I paired it with the hive/branch image. And there was lots of ink blending happening on this card especially as I didn’t like my first panel so started again. I felt like I’d gone 12 rounds by the time I was finished!
To make the blending a bit easier, I started by die cutting a panel from red cardstock. I used the smaller of the two scalloped rectangle dies from the PFS SLDCS Mini Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles set. I then blended Candied Apple Distress Ink over the panel making sure to leave a lighter area towards the top of the card where I knew the hive would be. I then went in with some Fired Brick Distress Ink but not quite as far over the panel. Next came Ground Espresso Distress Ink to really darken the outer edges as it combines so well with red. I finished with a little bit of Black Soot Distress Ink.
Next I splattered some gold over the panel using one of the pans from Gansai Tambi Starry Colors. I got a bit carried away and there were some interesting splatters that emerged. I covered a couple of them with the hive and bee thankfully. They look like little shooting stars!
I left the panel to dry whilst I worked on the images. I stamped both the bee and hive/branch from Bee Merry using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto 80lb white cardstock. They were coloured with Copics and fussy cut out. As I didn’t want a white border around the images, I took a dark red marker and coloured the white border so that it wouldn’t be visible. (The Copic numbers are listed towards the bottom of the post.) I added a little black glaze pen to the eyes and also some Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer to the bauble, lights and branch. I also put some white gel pen on the bauble.
Next I die cut a black scalloped panel using the same die set as before and I adhered that onto a side folding base card. The red ink blended panel was then added on top.
I popped the images up with foam tape and then took some gold jewels from Lucy’s Cards and added a few around the bee and hive. I also found some red sequins from an old retired mix from Lucy’s Cards which I added for extra twinkle. The sentiment is from the set and was stamped onto black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I added some Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it before trimming it down and then popping it onto the panel with foam tape.
