Hello everyone, today Picket Fence Studios is collaborating with My Favorite Things and I have a bright and fun birthday card to share with you.

My card features the lovely Zing Butterfly from Picket Fence Studios and a selection of gorgeous My Favorite Things Premium Dye Inks.
To create the card, I took the Zing Butterfly stencil and added some Pixie Spray to the back of it. I sprayed it quite heavily and I let it sit for at least 3 minutes before I adhered it down over my Strathmore Bristol Smooth panel. I really wanted to make sure that the antennae were stuck down firmly as I was going to be ink blending quite heavily through the stencil. It worked a treat. I have often thought that my Pixie Spray didn’t hold as well as it should but I have since realised, I simply did not add enough onto the stencil, nor leave it long enough before I adhered it to my cardstock! Who knew, certainly not me!
With the stencil firmly in place, I took some blending brushes and blended My Favorite Things Red Hot, Moroccan Spice, Lemon Chiffon, Field Day and Something Blue Premium Dye Inks through it. I worked from top left to bottom right, basically the direction that the butterfly was facing.
I did several layers of blending and then I thought that it would add a bit more interest and some texture if I dry embossed the stencil. So I left the stencil in place and ran it through my Gemini machine. And that also worked really well – a surprise as I don’t dry emboss often! I just popped the embossing mat into the the middle of my normal die cutting sandwich and away I went. I have a close up picture below which I hope shows the dry embossing better. It feels fab in real life!
I then spritzed the panel several times using Sheer Shimmer Spritz Sparkle.
So I then removed the stencil and adhered the panel to a top folding 110lb white A2 notecard. I got out the Do Good Recklessly stamp set and stamped the HB2U sentiment onto some Hero Hues Pitch Black Premium Cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat set. I then trimmed it out and popped it onto the panel with some foam tape.
To finish the card I added some Iridescent Moonshine sequins for an extra bit of sparkle. It was a treat to have a play with the My Favorite Things dye inks – they are such pretty colours and they blended very well. I will look forward to using them again.
