Where does one start in the first post of your first blog?
About five or six years ago, I was looking for a hobby. I didn’t have anything in my life at the time that I could really call a hobby. My mum had been making cards for a few years and with that in mind, I bought a card kit in the Christmas sale at John Lewis. As you would expect, it consisted of a set of card bases, a variety of toppers and some extra embellishments. I put together a few cards based on the suggestions in the box, and that is where it began.
I then spent the next few years buying cardmaking magazines and pulling together what I thought was going to be my essential cardmaking stash. Been there? How much of that stuff now sits redundant in your craft space? At the time, you think you cannot live without the reams of gold and silver peel offs, reels of ribbon and buttons of every shape, size and colour! Still, this is how we learn but I confess I wish I had spent more time investigating and less time buying supplies in a crazy frenzy.
A few years ago, I found Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire’s blogs via YouTube and that is when my cardmaking took a different direction. I took a couple of their Online Card Classes and never looked back. They have both been a huge source of inspiration and have taught me so much although I have still so much to learn! If you haven’t tried one of their classes, you really should, they are well worth your time and money!
Then came Instagram. A happy necessity. When taking an Online Card Class last year, I didn’t have a blog at the time to showcase my class creations. So, I joined Instagram purely as a way of being able to link my creations to the class gallery! Through Instagram, I have met so many wonderful, talented and supportive people. I call them my modern day pen pals because, at the moment, they only exist in that virtual social world, but one day, I hope I get to meet some of them.
And this is probably where you come in. More than likely you found me via Instagram as you are already a follower, or through someone else that I am connected with.
Either way, thank you for stopping by my blog. I appreciate the time you have taken to read this and I hope you come back again soon.
