Good morning all! Hope you are all well and enjoying the brighter weather over the past few days. I cannot wait for Spring, and with that in mind, I pulled out my Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms stamp and die set.
I bought this set last year after falling in love with it and have only used it a handful of times! Not that I don’t want to, but as you well know, other stamp sets arrive in our eager little hands and we forget our old ones!
This is the card that I made with Spring in mind, and it was really quick and simple to make.
I challenged myself to use some scraps, some new craft items and some forgotten craft items. I pulled out some scrap pink and green cardstock and die cut the leaves and blooms. Simple. Well it would be if my machine was working properly, but it is not cutting well and constantly needs a shim. Perhaps I need a new one. I digress….
I rifled through my container of embossing folders and found a folder which had an embossed flower pattern and decided this was just perfect for the card (finding something that is just perfect almost never happens!). I have no idea of the name of the folder, I think I got it free with a magazine about four years ago – result! I ran the folder and white card through my die cutting machine and then cut the panel to size.
I heat embossed a happy birthday sentiment from my much used Clearly Besotted A Little Sentimental stamp set onto some black card using Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I thought it would balance the card better if I added a black and white diagonal stripe panel at the side. So I got out my new unused set of Clearly Besotted Diagonal Stripes stamps (yay!), and stamped a strip down the left side of the card base in Versafine Onyx black, added clear embossing powder and heat set it.
All that was left was to mount the embossed panel onto the card base, adhere the leaves and blooms and pop up the sentiment using foam tape. To finish the card, I added some long forgotten black adhesive pearls.
I love the bright colours in this card, offset with the black and white accents. I have a multitude of pink blooms in my garden, and I cannot wait to get out there and enjoy them.
Thank you for visiting, I hope you like the card and as always, any comments are very welcome.
Have a great week!
