Good afternoon! Happy Saturday to you all. I hope this finds you well and creating lots of beautiful cards, or at least thinking about what you would like to make if you have the time!
Yesterday I tried something a little different, a monochromatic card. A first for me. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Here is the final card.
I started out by stamping the Clearly Besotted mini leaf accents in a citrus coloured ink over green Bazzill cardstock. The mini leaves were making their debut today from my “box of unused stuff” so happy days! A MISTI would have been useful here – the first attempt had to be re-done as some images did not stamp well enough using my stamp press (the cardstock is textured on one side which makes it hard to get a good impression). The second time I just used an acrylic block and it was much better, plus I used the less textured side of the card! I cut the stamped panel to size and adhered it to the white base panel, adding a thin green strip at the same time.
Next I stamped the MFT Woodgrain stamp using Versamark onto some vellum, added clear embossing powder and heat set it. I really love the Simon Says Stamp painted thanks die, so I cut it once from green and once from white cardstock, and adhered the two together, just offsetting the green die cut so you can see the white peeking out from behind (love that look). I also cut some mini hearts from the same dark green cardstock. Amazingly, I found a previously coloured green ombre butterfly in my stash! Yay! All my card elements were now completed.
All it needed was to put the card together. A little bit trickier than normal as you have to hide all the adhesive under the die cuts so that you can stick the vellum to the panel without any glue showing.
Once everything was stuck down, I added some glitter to the butterfly and the hearts, and naturally, as I couldn’t help myself, some Glossy Accents to give a bit of dimension to the hearts. I also trimmed the edge of the vellum circle so that it was flush with the card.
That finishes the card for today. Thank you for stopping by and I would love to know what you think.
I am going to be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Monochrome) and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge (Summertime).
Have a great weekend, whatever you are up to.
