It’s been ages since my last blog post, time just flies, and there is too much going on all the time! I have been creating of course, but I have had a little lull and lost my mojo a bit. On top of that I was making lots of stamping errors, and as a result I treated myself to a MISTI stamping tool – yay! This has been on my list for a while, I have been trying to avoid buying it, but I caved in the end (I knew I would ha ha).
I decided to create a mini set of notecards using the MISTI to repeat stamp and layer – it worked brilliantly, although I wasn’t overly quick as I have only really played with the tool a few times since it flew happily into my life forever more! 🙂
Here is my set of three cards. Apologies for the poor photograph, but it is late in the day here and the light has gone slightly weird due to the impending downpour!
The process for all three cards was the same, as you would expect. To create my design, I put a piece of scrap paper the size of my card panel into the MISTI and set my first layer of stamps accordingly. Once I was happy with how it looked, I removed the scrap paper, put a shiny new card panel in and stamped the first layer of the roses on all three panels. I used the amazing sets of Altenew inks on all cards, I really love these colours and they are perfect for stamp layering as all the hard work of choosing colours is taken away from you.
Onto the second layer, I once again aligned the second set of stamps on top of the already stamped panel, and repeat stamped all three in the second colour. Easy peasy! I then added the little centre in a darker shade using the same process. I then moved onto the leaves, lined the first layer up and inked it, and then lined the second layer up and stamped those. the MISTI really does make this very easy to do.
I added a few extra dots around the floral arrangement, just to add a little bit of extra interest, and I used the lightest ink colour for these.
Once the three floral arrangements wer finished, I stamped the greeting using Versafine Onyx Black, and it stamped perfectly, I didn’t even need to do it twice. In fact, for the most part, I didn’t need to overstamp any of my images, they worked perfectly on the first stamp.
Lastly, I found some coordinating papers, cut and adhered strips to the card bases and then mounted the panels on top.
All in all, it probably took me about an hour and a half to do all three from start to finish including faffing around with the design for a little while. It would go quicker if you didn’t do three different coloured notecards, and kept it all the same. But, not bad for three cards and a MISTI debut!
Would love to hear what you think, thank you for stopping by and I appreciate any comments you may wish to leave. Bye for now, Lisa.
