I am back with another birthday card! I promise there will be some other cards at some point. But right now there are a lot of birthdays and not a huge amount of time to make other things! This card is for a friend of mine who is turning 50 this weekend. I have known her since I was 4 years old, so I wanted to make something special.
I also wanted to create something pretty and floral (she loves her garden), and so I took my inspiration from a card that I received recently for my 50th birthday from my friend Tina.
Here is my card for today.
Now, this card is not a quick one, but I hope that you agree, it is worth the time and effort.
I started off by stamping the flowers and leaves using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. To do this I needed to create masks and work around the card placing the masks as I went. I started by masking the flowers followed by the leaves.
I then coloured the panel using Copic markers. I used 3 RV shades for the flowers and 3 YG shades for the leaves. This took quite a while to do, there are 9 flowers in total.
Once I had finished the colouring, I die cut 3 scalloped frames from Neenah Solar White cardstock and adhered them to each other using wet adhesive. I then took a strip of vellum, wrapped it around the panel and adhered it at the back using wet adhesive.
I die cut the word “Celebrate” twice and glued them together. I did the same with the number “50”. This is so that they had a little bit of dimension.
To complete the card, I adhered the floral card panel to the base using double sided adhesive tape. I also adhered the scalloped frame using adhesive tape. Lastly, I added the sentiment and “50” to the velum using very tiny amounts of wet adhesive.
I am so happy with how this card turned out and want to thank Tina for her inspiration for this card. Thank you as always for your visit, I always love to hear any comments you may have on my cards.
