Hello again friends!
Are you ready for some teasers for the Clearly Besotted April release? I know I am! Today is the first of our countdown days and I am using one of the larger sets for my card. This one is called Under The Sea and it is adorable!
I recently received a diorama card from a friend and had never created one before. I believe these are also known as shadow boxes. I thought the images in this set would be perfect for me to give this a go! And it’s easy to create.
So, I started by making the box:
- Cut two pieces of cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ (finished box is 5.5″ tall, and 3.75″ wide, 0.5″ deep and can be flattened to fit into an A2 envelope)
- Score at 0.5″ on both ends of each of the panels
- Die cut a rectangular aperture in one of the panels – this will serve as the front of the card.
- Put double sided tape into the scored sections on the aperture panel
To create the backdrop for the scene, I found a panel that I created a few weeks back using the alcohol ink marbling technique recently shown by Jennifer McGuire. I adhered that to the back panel with double sided tape and set the panels to one side.
I stamped the images onto Neenah Solar White using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I coloured them with Copics (all numbers listed below). I fussy cut them but there are coordinating dies to go with this set.
At this point, I decided to stamp the sentiment. I so often leave this until the end, but it is much easier to do this now before you stick the box card together! So I put the aperture panel into my MISTI and stamped the greeting from the set using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
Next I created the waves that sit towards the front of the box. I picked two blue cardstocks and some vellum and die cut these with wave dies. I stuck them together with wet adhesive and trimmed them to size so they would sit behind the aperture. I attached them using double sided tape.
I then removed the adhesive tape from the sides of the aperture panel and attached it to the back panel.
All that remained was for me to position my images and adhere them down. I added some sparkle to the fish, jellyfish and coral and a coating of Glossy Accents to the little boy’s screen in his helmet.
So that finishes my card – it did take a little while but I hope you will give this type of card a try – it’s a lot of fun to make and I hope to receive.
