Hi crafty friends!
I hope you are all well. Today I have another card for you but this time I am featuring a die from a set that I was very kindly sent by Spellbinders recently to have a play with.
There are three border dies in this super pretty set called On The Wings of Love by Joanne Fink. Today, I am using just one of the dies on my card. And I have gone for something bright and very contemporary.
If you like jigsaws, this technique you will love – the inlaid die-cutting technique. It takes a little while but the results are pretty!
I started by taking some 80lb white Neenah cardstock and die cutting the border die 4 times. Next I adhered the negative pieces using a spray adhesive to an A2 panel of 80lb Neenah Solar White – this will form the template for me to add the coloured cardstock into.
I took some pink, green and yellow cardstock and die cut the border die once from each. I then adhered the pink positive pieces into the template using wet adhesive and went on to do the same with the green and yellow. I decided not to fill the whole card – so left an area white (with no white inlay either, so it gives some extra interest).
It was quite fiddly to do as the arches, hearts and horizontal pieces are actually all slightly different shapes. And I do not have wonky eyes… the die itself is not not completely straight on the bottom edge, so you get a lovely slightly whimsical look to it. They actually remind me of the arches of the Colosseum! Wonky and about to fall down:)
After finishing all the gluing, I trimmed the panel down so that it was all neat and tidy and adhered it onto an A2 top folding card base using double sided tape. Lastly I white heat embossed the sentiment from Mama Elephant onto some black cardstock and popped this onto the panel using foam tape.
So that finishes the card. I have another project coming soon using this same set and it uses it in a very different way! I hope that you like it and I wish you all a fabulous day. Happy crafting!
