Hello again friends!
Today I have a card for you featuring a stamp from the new Simon Says Stamp Good Vibes release, which is out today! As always, it’s another amazing release from Simon Says Stamp and I was very fortunate to be sent one of the products to have a play with.
The stamp set is a wonderful sentiment set. It has a bunch of great sentiments in different fonts and sizes and is themed around taking a vacation. And it is very appropriately named Vacation Time. I teamed my sentiment with a sailboat die that I already had in my stash.
So, here is my card.
For those of you that have been enjoying alcohol inks on yupo paper lately, you may have tried this technique. But if not, it is surprisingly easy and a lot less messy than getting your alcohol inks out. You just need alcohol markers and some yupo paper.
So I began by taking a panel of Lana Vanguard yupo paper and a selection of blue, yellow, orange and pink Copic markers (colours are listed below). All I did was colour stripes across the panel, making sure to blend them together in between each colour change. I wanted to create a little sea scene, with a summer (I’m thinking Caribbean) sky.
You can see the gradiant of lines in the picture above – I have done this technique before and absolutely love the way you get these variations without doing anything other than adding stripes across – the mix of Copic and yupo paper just gives you that end result. It’s a great way to add an interesting background quickly.
I trimmed the yupo panel down and adhered it with DST to the back of a panel of white cardstock that I had die-cut with a stitched circle. I then took the Simon Says Stamp Sailboat die and cut it three times from Neenah 110lb cardstock and adhered them together to give stability and dimension. You can see the layers in the picture below. The boat was popped onto the yupo panel with foam tape, and I even managed to get a tiny piece behind the flag to make sure it was supported!
I white heat embossed one of the sentiments from Vacation Time onto black cardstock and popped it onto the panel with foam tape. I felt that the card needed a little something else, so I cut three SSS mini hearts and stacked them together, then adhered them to the panel with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.
The whole panel was then adhered with foam tape onto a 5″ square top folding notecard, so it has lots of dimension.
I hope that you like the card and you give colouring on yupo a try. I love the mix of colours in this card, and the crisp white against those colours. And I think I may just send it to myself. You know, of course, I need a break haha!
A huge thank you to Simon Says Stamp who so generously sent me the stamp set – I am looking forward to using it again.
Copics used: B39, B28, B24, RV25, RV23, RV21, YR21, Y11, Y17
